The second dose of the coronavirus vaccines will be given later than originally planned, experts have said.
The move is to ensure more people are given a first dose to help fight the UK's rising coronavirus infection rate, with the second dose administered up to three months later.
Speaking at a briefing at Downing Street today, Professor Wei Shen Lim, chair of the Joint Committee of Vaccinations and Immunisations, said the "immediate urgency" was for the rapid rollout of the new Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine and to ensure high levels of uptake.
"We recommend delivery of the first vaccine should be prioritised for both the Pfizer/BioNTech and the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.
Professor Sir Munir Pirmohamed, chair of the Commission on Human Medicine Expert Working Group which looked into the efficacy and safety of the new vaccine, said it was 80% effective three months after the first dose.
He added: "We examined the half-dose regime but we felt that the results were not borne out by the full analysis."

I’ve read that the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine has shown some promise, possibly that it is not going to cause adverse reactions and is highly effective (100% they are saying).
Once it is actually “rolled out”, we’ll see whether that is indeed the case.
As for me, unless the Lord shows me otherwise, I will not be taking any of these COVID vaccines for various reasons.
Poor planning, and now they have to deviate from the established dosing of the clinical studies. They are winging it.

So they will have a cou try full of incompletely vaccinated instead of a somewhat smaller group that is actually protected. What could go wrong? And of course the vaccine makers will be blamed
I would not go anywhere near the astra zeneca vaccine. This is the vaccine where they dosed the phase one trial wrong

I have former “friends” at Zoetis...Pfizer’s animal vaccine spinoff. (They recently opened up another facility in CHYna.) If they were on my porch wanting to come into my house to administer my jab to promote my “health”...I would not hesitate to blow their f’n heads off. That’s all that I will say about that at this time.
Just the astra zeneca vaccine. I have had the Pfizer vaccine and will get my second one in a week or so
I read something that said that eventually those who got the MRNA vaccines will need a booster of the more conventional variants, or exposure to actual covid within the protection period, to get a longer lasting immunity. Something about T-Cells.
Who knows, maybe this is intentional and their final excuse to nationalize healthcare. I just know I don't want to play. It appears people in my demographic have a better than 99.98% survival rate. Given that I do a few other risky things such as riding a motorcycle I'll take those odds. I ride a motorcycle because I enjoy it and to me the rewards are worth the risks. I'll not take the vaccine because not having to worry about side effects or ulterior motives gives me far more peace of mind than worrying about a less than 0.02% chance something bad may happen.
I have not heard that I suspect this may need a periodic booster no matter what vaccine you get

The lady in the picture could be really hot, but with the muzzle on I can’t tell whether she’s happy or mad or somewhere in between. I had an X like that.
But on the vaccine, I’m not fundamentally against them, but any time the MAN is urging, pushing me to do something ‘for my own good’, I get a little hesitant.
In my future imaginary world, most young men have been made sterile by these concoctions, and the few brave souls like myself are called upon to save the human race.
