Ossoff, Warnock bankrolled by donors in New York and California
NY Post ^ | 12/28/2020 | Ebony Bowden

The record-shattering fundraising hauls made by Georgia Democratic Senate hopefuls Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock are being driven by out-of-state donors in liberal cities like New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, campaign filings show.

As Democrats try to claw back control of the Senate in enormously consequential run-off races on Jan. 5, Ossoff, an investigative journalist, and Warnock, a senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, each raised a stunning $100 million in the last two months, becoming the best-funded Senate candidates in history.

But 95 percent of that money is coming from outside of the Peach State, records show.

According to a Post review of Federal Election Commission data, Ossoff and Warnock’s biggest financial backers are from the Democratic strongholds of New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.

Of the itemizable donations able to be traced, Californians donated $14.7 million to Ossoff’s campaign against GOP incumbent David Perdue — 26.43 percent of his total haul.

New Yorkers gave $6 million to Ossoff’s Senate bid, dwarfing the $2.5 million Georgians donated to his campaign.

Warnock, who is trying to unseat Republican incumbent Kelly Loeffler, also scored big in these two states, raising a total of $11.7 million from California and $4.7 million from New York, overshadowing the $2.6 million he raised in Georgia.

The nationwide fundraising blitzes echo earlier races where Silicon Valley, Wall Street and Hollywood opened their wallets to unsuccessfully bankroll multiple Democratic challengers in a bid to hand Joe Biden undivided control of Washington.

The only bankrolling that counts in this and future elections, is that money which buys off the communist election fraud folks which ensures who the winner is.

Giving money to a political candidate going forward is a worse use of money than buying lotto tickets.

The reports I’ve seen are that the Republicans are outspending them and that the Dem campaigns are running out of money.

The ZIP Codes That Rule America!:
BY: MICHAEL LIND, DECEMBER 16, 2020

The real divide isn’t between red states and blue states or cities and rural areas.

It’s between mega-rich political donors and everyone else.

In theory senators represent the citizens of their states and members of the House represent the people of their congressional districts. In practice they represent individual and corporate donors and political allies and future employers, who may live anywhere in the United States—or in some cases abroad. Joe Biden was the senator from the credit card industry, based in Delaware.

The donors to American politicians in all 50 states are concentrated in a few ZIP codes. According to Open Secrets, of the ZIP codes that delivered the most campaign funding for the Democrats in 2020, not counting dark money or soft money for liberal groups, four of the top five were in New York City (10024, 10023, 10022, 10011), followed by Chevy Chase, Maryland (20815), a suburb of Washington, D.C. Other top Democratic ZIPs this year were Silicon Valley (94301 and 94022) and Cambridge, Massachusetts (02138). New York City was also overrepresented among donors to the Republican Party, whose donor base is more geographically diverse, with a lot of money coming from Dallas, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Palm Beach, Florida.

Most politicians follow the preferences of their donors, not their voters, when there is a conflict. “Who buys my bread, his song I sing,” as the old saying goes. Or, if you prefer another proverb: “The Golden Rule is whoever has the gold rules.”

“When the preferences of economic elites and the stands of organized interest groups are controlled for, the preferences of the average American appear to have only a minuscule, near-zero, statistically non-significant impact upon public policy.”

Are we stuck with only 50 stars on Old Glory from now on?Except at the margins, it doesn’t matter whether there are eight Californias or just one. Nor would it make much of a difference if D.C. or Puerto Rico became the 51st state. We can draw state borders however we like and add or subdivide states if we choose. But to the extent our influence is limited to voting, most of us are just renters in American politics. The donors, wherever they happen to live, own it.

If they can steal POTUS more power to them. If they can buy the Senate seats more power to them.

I still don’t understand how this is legal. And I don’t care what party it is. Why should someone in California influence or backroom a campaign in, say, Georgia? I would like to see this stop

The story is useless without outlining where the GOP is getting their money.

Are we against out of state big money or Democrat out of state big money.

It doesn’t matter.
It doesn’t even matter if people get out and vote or don’t vote. The Dominion voting machines will vote for you...several times...and all for the “proper candidates”. Kinda cool, huh? /S

Correct. I doubt Karl Rove and Haley Barbour are getting their millions in burnable cash from Macon and Columbus.

According to NBC, the Democrats are telling their own donors that Republicans are outspending them and that the Democrats are running out of money. That’s a pretty typical story campaigns tell their donors, so take it with a grain of salt, but it seems to be corroborated by other reports (but only if you include spending by outside groups).

I made out-of-state donations to Perdue and Loeffler, but I wouldn’t call my money “big.”
