It is my understanding there were Palestinian Arabs and Palestinian Jews, but never any just Palestinians until Yassar Arafat came up with the designation. The people now claiming to be Palestinian are in face, Jordanian.
And Jesus was a Jew.
Fact, not face. Proofreading is not my strong suit.
There were no Palestinians, ever. It is a bastardized title taken from the name, “Philistine” by Yassar Arafat and his Catholic wife.
I have a Jewish friend who lives in Israel. He’s quite positive about Arabs in general, but claims that the Palestinians are essentially lower-caste Arabs, gypsies of a sort, nothing but useful political pawns.
Until the 1960s, ‘Palestinian’ standing alone meant a Jew. I’ve seen British Mandate IDs that say Palestinian when the person was a Jew. Arabs were identified as Arabs.
Money was Palestine pound, The Jerusalem Post, Jewish owned, originated as the Palestine Post.
Actually, before Arafat, the "Palestinians" were the Jews. Go to any volume of The New York Times Index (Libraries all used to have these in their reference sections.) from before that Balfour Declaration and look up Palestinian. Under that heading you will find just two words: See Jews.
