>>Since a trillion is 1,000 billions, I think we’re getting there (a real lot of money)<<
If the government was really interested in cutting spending, they would remove the word “trillion” (which is 3 million is Espanol btw) from all spending bills and debate. Make them say 2 thousand billion.
1 trillion dollars is so much that is you spent 1 MILLION dollars a DAY, you would go backwards to the birth of Christ and still only hit $700 billion or so. I think you have to go backwards to the battle of Thermopile to get to a trillion. A million $ a day.
Awesome!
Based upon the Federal budget, discretionary spending on wages, the government spends over $548 million per day on salaries; approximately $200 Billion per year.
Only math majors or oddballs such as I understand such figures. I once asked a person the following, “If you were offered a thirty day contract which would pay you one penny for the first day and your pay would be DOUBLED each and every day for the entire thirty days would you take the offer?”
Following a VERY long pause for thought the answer was no. Then I said, “You would be turning down millions of dollars.” I got a blank look in response.
