Hard to tell who is going to come out ahead politically. Probably the side that can best explain its case.

Probably the side that offers the biggest payments.

I say President Trump should take the amount of the entire omnibus spending bill and divide it by the number of recipients ... and insist on THAT amount in direct payments to U.S. taxpayers.

It probably comes to about $5,000 or so, not $1,200 or $2,000.

Then the Democrats will surely win because they are the party of free stuff, everyone is a victim, reward without effort, etc. If Trump offers $2,000, they’ll have no qualms about countering with, say, $5,000. They can always up the financial ante. So it’s our task to convince people that free-lunch socialism doesn’t work. Ronald Reagan did it, and so can Trump.
