Applications for New York City gun permits have surged to 9,000 applicants, but the New York Post reports that NYPD approved “fewer than 1,100.”
The Post notes 8,088 of the permit applications came from “first-time pistol and rifle permits” and were submitted since March 22, 2020.

“Drags” - the word implies that eventually they’ll be approved, “eventually” meaning “never”.
I expect novelist Stuart Woods presents a slice of reality in his Stone Barrington series where only the connected get carry permits while the rest are told how dangerous guns are.
Sounds right but, how did 1,000 get approved? KrisKoomo authorize it. You know, being proxy gov and crack(head) journalist.
Oh, that was fiction?
Isn’t it funny that the gangbangers dont have this problem. Here we are following thier rules
How many are carrying without all this bullcrap. That is obtaining from the usual marketers. Because it is far better to be judged by even 1 crook paid off judge versus being carried in a coffin by 12 “volunteers” and your friends.
The numbers are assuredly in the 10s of thousands.
It's not a novel, it's reality in 'may issue' jurisdictions.
Even President Trump and Donald Jr. have NYC concealed carry licenses (dating back to before the Presidential run) because of who they knew in NYC politics.
CCW permits should be for felons on probation. Citizens in good standing need no government permission to defend themselves.
Isn’t that how it works?
the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed
Screw permits.
Better the perp than YOU
Furthermore the blah blah blah blah blah never enforces any laws anyway right?
Bernie Goetz, the former Manhattan New York anti-crime champion, actually applied for an unconstitutionally required handgun permit and was denied.
New York City twice invalidated its own legal authority once it crossed the line the first time by requiring a permit and the second time by then denying the permit.
yes indeed
Lived in Killeen, Texas when the Luby’s shooting took place. Because of that woman who left her pistol in her car to ‘follow the law’, she fought for CCW and got it. I do not agree with a permit, however, here in Texas it is a Shall Issue state. The draw back? Everyone is on a list that’s open to the public.
To further, when I medically retired from a railroad, the Retirement Board requested all my records pertaning to my permit. I was steaming mad. The state told me they got nothing cause they dont share info. And the railroad gave me the run around on who requested my records for no valid purpose.
The approval process drags? In New York?! I'm shocked. SHOCKED!

When you live in a Communist state like NY, before you can flaunt the carry rules, you first have to obtain a firearm. No face-to-face sales are allowed, and unless you want to buy a gun out of the trunk of the local crack dealer, you'll first need a permit to purchase, in some states a FOID card.
Once you do obtain said firearm, now you need to purchase ammunition. That's a little easier if you have transportation to a free state that doesn't need to see your identification or FOID card to sell to you.
[[[How many are carrying without all this bullcrap.]]]
Tens of thousands going back decades.
When I worked down there in the 80’s every shop owner had a handgun in their pocket. Flower shop owner i knew had a nice Walther PPKS in his wind breaker pocket.
Of course that's how it works, even when it goes against NYC's own laws.
The solution to the problem is "shall issue" instead of "may issue."
Violent career criminals don’t bother with the approval process. Gun laws are designed to take guns from non-violent citizens while leaving them in the hands of violent criminals.
Proof? look at what they did during the leftwing takeover of seattle and other cities. They did nothing to prevent leftwing criminals from killing, stealing and assaulting.
