CHICAGO -- A man was shot and killed by an employee while trying to commit a robbery at a store Saturday on the West Side, police said.
He walked in to a cell phone store about 6:50 p.m. in the 3200-block of West Chicago Avenue, pulled out a gun and demanded property, according to Chicago police.
A store employee, a 29-year-old man, pulled out his own gun and fired shots at the robber, striking him in the chest, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The 29-year-old has a valid concealed-carry license, police said. Officers recovered his gun as well as the other man's gun.
The Cook County medical examiner's office hasn't released details on the death.
Area Four detectives are investigating.
Happy ending, case closed.
Encore!
“Happy ending, case closed.”

The ending will be happy when the judgement is justified homicide. That’s never assured in corrupt Chicago.
Where is the GoFundMe page for the store employee? This having happened in Chicago, sadly, they will need one.
Even if he’s lucky enough to escape prosecution, he’ll be sued in civil court by the dead man’s family.
merry christmas
the city is that much safer
countersue for triple
no one has a right to use deadly force against someone to steal property
GFM doesn't seem to allow 2A cases. There will probably be a GFM campaign for the dead perp, but I doubt they would allow one for the employee who defended himself.
“GFM doesn’t seem to allow 2A cases. “
If so, an opportunity for someone else; there seems to be a market for it.
That’s why it’s good to get self-defense insurance.
This man is now disarmed and in serious danger.
The po-po have taken his only means of self-defense.
Stupid reporting and stupid police.
1. police “recovered” the other gun (that of the employee).
NO! It was never lost in the first place. He gave it to them as is customary in a shooting incident. Either stupid writer for ABC or stupid police spokesperson, or both.
2. re “medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details of his (the robber’s) death”.
I would think that the reported “shot in the chest” thingy would give us a clue as to the cause of the robber’s death. Definitely NOT “death by chocolate, natural causes, aging, or cognitive dissonance”. Maybe “death by gun-shot to the heart while committing an armed robbery”, which, in Chicago, becomes “death by COVID 19 virus by proximity to a hospital ten miles away which has COVID patients”.
I could be wrong but I don’t think so.!!
I guess the perp was shot because he wasn’t wearing a mask or an authorized medical, anti-Virus mask. Boy the Chicago Health Department is mean when you commit a minor violation of the “mask wearing laws”. The only shot you get re the Virus is one for NOT wearing a mask or the wrong kind.
Got to remember to stay the hell out of Chicago. You’re dead if you obey the law and the criminals don’t, as well as you’re dead if you are a victim of the criminals who do or don’t wear a mask or the right one.
If he’s anything like me, he’s got more than one. 2A supporters in and around Chicago don’t mess around. I damn well don’t.
The employee was quite calm, quickly drew his concealed handgun and shot the perp dead. Makes me smile every time I read these stories.
Awesome.....I love good “gun control!”
“Got to remember to stay the hell out of Chicago. You’re dead if you obey the law...”
This article is a bit deceiving, probably just because the reporter is stupid. When in your place of business in Chicago no CCL is needed. In many of the more “diverse” neighborhoods business owners open carry.
It’s only when you’re armed in public is a CCL required. And Illinois on the whole actually has fairly good gun laws. There’s no AWB, no restrictions on magazine sizes, or the like.
Getting a CCL is pretty easy, although expensive. Take the classes, send in your money, and the permit is issued. It’s a Shall Issue process. The classes run $150 and the fee is another $150 or so. The wait is the problem.
Because of COVID processing time is insane. I have been waiting for my renewal since February. But they have been extended for a year or “the duration of the pandemic” so they can focus on issuing new ones. A friend of mine got his in about 3 months instead of the 30 days required by the law.
Chicago has a ten round magazine limit but I don’t know of anyone who’s ever actually been prosecuted for violating it. There’s also a completely stupid nickel a round tax on center fire ammunition. But since there’s only one gun store that I know of located in Cook County they don’t generate much revenue from it at all.
People just head out to one of the collar counties to avoid it. Not that there’s any ammo to be had these days.

Wait wait wait...no mention of the skin tone of the robber or clerk.
Don’t they know that is vitally important in order for us to determine guilt these days?

Seriously, this means the clerk was black.
Damn good shooting!
