The girl, who was a freshman in high school, was not calling anyone an n-word. She made a mistake but does not deserve to have life ruined or name sullied in a national newspaper. Jimmy Galligan, the snitch, has more to be ashamed of.

The use of the n word has changed.
It used to be used by people of other races to insult Americans of African Descent.
Now, my observation is that it is mostly used by Americans of African Descent to address other Americans of African Descent.
All young people want to be cool and use the common slang.
If it is a bad word, then it is a bad word for everyone, including Americans of African Descent.

When rap songs and TV quit spamming that word, then I might take it seriously. I don’t care about the nuances of spelling, either.
It’s either an evil bad word and offensive to all when said by anyone or it’s nothing. At this point it’s nothing but a word I chose not to use.
