Let's start in 2000. That year, former Texas Gov. George W. Bush absolutely annihilated Democrat Al Gore in Texas, winning 59.3% of the vote to Gore's 37.9%. Bush won by 1.3 million votes of about 6 million cast.
Bush crushed Democrat John Kerry in 2004, 61.1% to 38.2%. That time he won by nearly 1.7 million votes of some 7 million ballots cast.
But things began to change when Barack Obama ran for president. While the late Sen. John McCain defeated the Democrat in 2008, he got just 55.4% of the vote to Obama's 43.6%. And McCain won by fewer than 1 million votes of about 8 million ballots cast.
Utah Sen. Mitt Romney took the margin back above that million-vote mark, defeating Obama in Texas by more than 1.2 million votes of about 8 million ballots cast as he took the state by 57.1% to 41.3%.
Yet President Trump couldn't match those numbers in 2016. He won 52.1% to Democrat Hillary Clinton's 43.1%. And he won by slightly more than 800,000 votes of some 8.5 million cast.
Things got worse in 2020, when Trump got 52.1% of the vote to Joe Biden's 46.5%. While a win, his margin was just more than 600,000 votes — of nearly 11 million cast.
You read that right: 11 million. That's double the number of votes cast in the state in 1996.

They made the pattern of how, time to master it and blow D’s out of the water in every race. You aren’t trying if you ain’t cheating.
I agree.
Republicans will never win another election, period.
After Flimsey Grahamnesty, Micro Rubio and the resat of the Bush League Republicans gives the Democrats 30+ million new voters with amnesty, elections become meaningless.
They can turn any state blue. They can buy Republicans and elect them and call them red but control them.
It’s all a farce until Trump beats them.
Ok you dispute the 28% Hispanic for Republicans. What is it then, hmmmm???? Give me a percent and a reason for your estimation. Shut up or put up.
So they chose Trump in 2016? Really?
If something isn’t done about this election, no republican will ever win the White House again.
This republic is done.
The republic died at the Appomattox Va. CH. It took this long for the corpse to stop breathing....
You continue to ignore my main point: So-called stats measured through fraud are tainted by design. Your repeat of ad hominem and ad lapidem (abd dogged clinging to left-wing sources, hence repeat of ad verecundiam) suggests you favor outcomes benefiting the Uniparty. I’m sorry to see that you prefer a narrative to the truth, so have a nice Boxing Day . . .
What do you mean after they bankrupt the country?
To be honest, after the way the republicans treated Trump, why the hell vote for them? There is no difference between these partiys of crooks.
There has been a trend toward home schooling out here and in other rural areas for about 25 years-ever since the natural living/preppers/off griders like me and a lot of neighbors started including people with young kids-last year, the school bus only picked up one kid on this road-a high school senior-the plandemic finished the bus route, since the kids have continued top be home schooled even though the schools re-opened in September, enrollment is way down and still dropping as more parents form co-ops for home learning, etc.
Home schooling-aka as really learning history, math, English,-is good for trending kids toward conservative values-and away from useless virtue signalling crap-I hope it is happening all over the state...
"I dispute the 28% Hispanic support for R's in exit polling. I think exit polls are wrong and Hispanic support is more like < insert percentage here >. The reason why I think this is because < insert reason(s) for questioning the exit polls and post sources if available here >."
The Republican Party will not exist in four years.
Texas is still RED - and Republicans can’t win it!
What, at this point, does it matter???
We are done with free elections here anymore.
That is defeatism.
Republicans keep pretending that if they try hard enough, blacks and Hispanics will turn Republican. It’s absurd. Yes, Trump increased the number of minorities voting Republican, but still the overwhelming numbers go Democrat. Now, besides blacks and Hispanics, we have Asians (particularly Indians) who vote 2 to 1 for the Democrats.
Whites are being marginalized and attacked, and eventually whites in the US may face what whites in South Africa are facing.
Sidney Powell said it is a lie that USA voters are trending blue. Just their machines arem
You are the one embarrassing yourself. This is not 1860.
Most immigrants came over to get away from stifling gov’t. and crappy lifestyle....They get it here from the dem party and they could switch real easy.... Hispanics and Asians in California showed us that they don’t always like dem programs....Both groups voted down affirmative action for blacks...
