Rush Limbaugh opened his final show of 2020 “by reflecting on what’s important.” Occasioned by the dire prognosis and related treatment he has lived with since early this year, Rush remembered and avowed:
There’s something about Christmas, my childhood memories of it, the families getting together and the children making it what it was. My feelings of thankfulness always surface. My feelings of great gratitude always surface at the Christmas time of year, and it’s no different this year. Now, in January of this year, toward the end of the month, I received a — you all know, but there’s something I want to say about it — stage 4, advanced lung cancer, terminal diagnosis. The objective of everybody involved was to extend life for as long as possible as enjoyably as possible.

I wasn’t expected to make it to October and then to November and then to December — and yet here I am. Today I’ve got some problems, but I’m feeling pretty good today. God’s with me today. God knows how important this program is to me today, and I’m feeling natural in terms of energy, normal in terms of energy, and I’m feeling entirely capable of doing it today.

You know, I have a philosophy there’s good that happens in everything. It may not reveal itself immediately, and even in the most dire circumstances, if you just wait, if you just remain open to things, the good in it will reveal itself.
Rush has posted transcript of his monologue here. Ian Schwartz has posted the transcript along with the video here at RealClearPolitics. It is well worth your time and consideration

What we need to replace him would be either Candace Owens or Baltimore Kim (can't think of her last name). Those would drive Liberals nuts - young, black women who is conservative! The anti-Rush 😀
I have been near death several times and ironically it’s an incredibly peaceful feeling and seemed so natural at the time.

Only a couple of times that I can honestly point to but after the fact, such as being in a car, changing my mind while the others took off, got in a wreck and all but one died....’heavy’ at 16.
Also I had volunteered for a certain type ship and the one I think I would have been on was lost with all hands and it got closer to home when I realized I knew a few of the people on board, not close but recognized the names as classmates.
Couple of close calls and you look at it as it is - inevitable and just try and stay ‘prepared’.
I definitely don’t want to stretch it out with a debilitating disease or condition but.......
It is what it is and best one can do is do the best one can for the time here.
I ‘joke’ that I was lucky to see 30 and the rest has been a bonus (of sorts???)
Like I/WE say...
Don’t screw with an ‘old man’ as the threat of a life sentence becomes less of a deterrent with age....
When I first heard him in 1988, he confirmed everything I believed in. Even the Republican Party at the time were happy being second tier with no hope of ever being in control. He lifted me up and gave hope that things could change. When Newt came along, we saw what is possible.
Lately I’ve been pondering who would fill that daily 3 hour slot when Rush turns off the “Golden EIB” microphone for the last time.
Some point to Hannity...no way. Hannity repeats the same message again and again and still has not learned how to close his mouth and listen.
It’s a unique personality that can go 5 days a week, 3 hours a day, show “prep” time, few if any guests...carrying the show on his or her back (yes, it could be a “her”) and have the charisma to keep us coming back for more.
Currently, I just don’t see anyone with that level of commitment, discipline and talent to fill the 3 hour void that we all know is coming.
I’m thankful that I found Rush by accident 32 years ago. Driving to San Diego, flipping the dial, my good fortune to find El Rushbo.

Mickie is a turd....and most folks know it.....Mickie is little whinning B-itch.
There are a lot of conservatives running very successful podcasts right now. The Hodge Twins and Graham Allen come immediately to mind. Finding someone who has the voice, the depth, the principles, and the wit of Limbaugh will be impossible. He’s truly a once-in-a-generation voice.
Filling a live radio broadcast with someone who’s used to creating content on an asynchronous medium such as YouTube, Twitch, or in a podcast won’t work. Live radio requires a skill that few have.
Some have mentioned Levin. While I agree with his messages, I don’t care for his delivery. Hannity won’t leave his 3-6PM slot. Dennis Prager has success that might be functional in live radio, but ultimately power vacuums see a lot of flux before they level off. I think that slot will be chaotic for at least a year before a strong voice rises above the rest.
I got my nephew a couple of the Rush Revere history books for Christmas. They’re good presents for kids.

Haven't you ever noticed he's never guest hosted for Rush?
I don't like radio talk shows with a sidekick.
The one who I think would be best is Mark Steyn.
Finding someone who has the voice, the depth, the principles, and the wit of Limbaugh will be impossible.Found long ago. Actually better than Rush in my opinion.
Mark Steyn.
“Michael Savage mocked Rush’s account of his condition.
I have a comment - Michael Savage is an ass. He’s losing his show because nobody can sfand him anymore.
I remember Savage bragging about taking over Hannity's 3-5 PM time slot on WjR here in Detroit. He thought he was big stuff then....
Unfortunately for him, Hannity had merely switched parent networks to the Patriot where he then took over the 3-6 pm slot on I think 101.5..
Savage eventually ended up on the 11 P.M. - 1:00 a.m..............LOL!
Bongino is currently battling Hodgkins Lymphoma......
A true American Hero in every sense of the word. He rushed into burning buildings of politics not just once but every day. Its out turn to pick up the flag and press on.
MAGA! KAGA!
I agree.
