Across America, breaking the law often means there are no consequences anymore: As our political class gets more criminal, we’re seeing a shift in values that can only have terrible outcomes for ordinary Americans

Let’s begin with the conclusion so as not to keep anyone waiting: Punishment under the law is no longer acceptable in a “woke” society. One may still be subjected to legal prosecution if the crime threatens the Left, as happened to Donald Trump, Carter Paige, and Michael Flynn. “Truth,” however, has nothing to do with such prosecutions of convenience, although punishment is highly acceptable under informal social norms. So, we have “cancel culture” that can ruin a person’s life in an afternoon, moving right along until the victim enters his eternal rest.

Rejecting legal punishment except in political cases can be seen in the West Coast’s aversion to prosecuting street crimes such as trespassing, mugging, and serious violence resulting in bodily injury. Just this afternoon, as I am writing, Portland, Oregon has decided not to prosecute someone who drove into a Proud Boy in a parking lot and then left the scene. In the olden days, this was a pure crime, but unworthy of charges at this time and in that venue.

In another case, the prosecutor of a case told the murder victim’s family to “keep their mouth shut.” If victims and their families have no standing, punishment is increasingly irrelevant. The proper “woke” attitude towards victims is that all that happened to them was they had some really bad luck.

From where does this impulse to ignore punishment arise? Most rationalizations explaining this phenomenon do not interest me. I have my own!

Those holding political power who downplay punishment desperately need a punishment-free society to protect themselves from investigation and jail time. If everyone else can get away scot-free, so can those who wield power.

In fact, not only should everyone be allowed to get away scot-free, but they should not even be subjected to questioning about their deeds.

It’s just about time to consider going back to street or vigilante style of justice since the so called justice system has finally broken down like the way it was in the western days and before.

That appears to be the only solution. Government is not only inept, it is intentionally aiding and abetting the lawlessness. They have given the thugs a licence to steal, mug, riot and murder.

If Americans tolerate rule by a criminal class today, what comes tomorrow? Commodus? Nero? Caligula? Stalin? Pol Pot? Mao? Hitler?

The warnings are everywhere.

Yep. People forget that one important role the police play is protecting criminals from the angry mob. Case in point, Seattle's mayor allowed CHAZ to continue unchallenged up until (white) Antifa started shooting (black) carjackers. Then she shut it down.

There's some great video clips of vigilante justice being administered in Central and South America, where police corruption has ensured that the angry mob is the primary tool of justice (my favorite is the video of a teenage gang member being set on fire after she murdered a taxi driver who refused to pay an extortion). Presumably they get it right, most of the time.

Looking forward to exciting Twitter feeds when this flavor of justice returns here!

The federal govt has been unconstitutional for a long time. The biggest thing that needs to be done to restore freedom and better values. Is that the federal govt should be cut down to almost nothing. This would end a lot of corruption. So many people are feeding at the troph. They are sending our money to other countries it’s all corrupt.

Case in point...

Carjackers throw woman from car in Lincoln Park, then crash in Uptown

Read the entire article. It's infuriating.

“decriminalization” locally is designed to create conditions that permit the major players to continue skating under the wire

Yup. More concealed carry these days, but do carry, nonetheless.

You would think that the left would love the law. For instance, the law against murder is probably why they are alive. :)

Yes, and also the City south of them - Portland, Oregon.

And even further south - San Francisco? They were the pioneer.

Hmmm, maybe there is a historical precedent for this? Think Hitler’s rise to power in Nazi Germany.

The craziest thing is that NYC mayor De Blasio just said sheriffs will conduct home and hotel visits to ensure people who should be quarantining are doing so.

Think about what that means about the size of our law enforcement industry.

Watch an episode of “Parking Wars” to see how bloated our government has become; it follows the parking enforcement from curb to impound yard, often in crappy urban areas. It is amazing how much gadgetry we pay for that is then used to make our lives miserable; the overhead costs in these dumps (including Philly, Minneapolis) must be staggering.
