In a month, this nonsense will fly through Congress unabated. The one-sided civil war will spiral out of control and conservatives will be on the receiving end of the punishment.

It was so in-your-face, I doubt they expected signing. It is a literal compilation of poison pills. To these demons, an override is just too delicious to forego.
As for the override: just in case there are enough traitors to do so, I believe the POTUS can pocket veto it. That would require Congress to stay in session over Christmas and New Year to meet the 10-day requirement. Day 11 is New Years’ Day and on January 3, the new Congress takes their seats. They then need to start from scratch. We held our seats and added some, while there are Dem seats that are in the contested states and so may be held in abeyance, further reducing the numbers needed for override. I am hoping enough critters and Senators will be grateful for a veto and find excuses to abstain or be absent for an override vote.
This monstrosity was not written and assembled and voted and passed recently. It took time.
I believe that by January 2, the changes on the ground will become momentous enough to short-circuit the Congress from meeting with the required bodies present to override.
I so pray.

I think they are technically separate bills but the omnibus spending bill is full of waste, pork and checkbook diplomacy. There's no good reason we should not be helping average Americans kept from work by lockdowns.
The Dems did this all summer long, they let the enhanced unemployment expire, etc.
I'm not happy college students trying to be independent fall through a gap because they may be claimed by a parent as dependents on taxes but the parents don't get a child stimulus check for them. That leaves young adults with no help. Doesn't seem right or fair. I used my funds to make rent payments for a student because his job reopening was delayed, then opened & closed right down again.
That’s a spening bill, not so much Covid and not so much for us Americans.
I’m fearful of a Dem sweep on the runoff but it’s hard to believe at this point we won’t be overwhelmed at the ballot box. They seem to be so much better organized than the GOP.
That was a Dole/McCain bill. We'd have to amend the constitution to make it happen.

Assign each critter and Senator 10-15 pages. Do it in order of seniority, so there is no avoiding being the one associated with the worst items Put it on CSPAN. Disable all WI-FI while the reading is taking place, so they cannot text and play games on their phones. Make presence on the floor a requirement for the duration.
There are Patriot members of Congress who lurk here. Make it so. Alternatively, if it gets amended on 12/23 and the clerical workers have Christmas Eve off, it cannot make it back to POTUS’ desk before 12/26. 10 days for a pocket veto. That puts their override date on the same day as the Joint Session, after which, mark the President’s words: “It may be me.”
