No, he should not have been there in the first place.
We have American history and yes Lee was a part of it. But honoring him that way as if he was a “great American” he was not. He was a traitor, we should not honor traitors to this country, ever.
A traitorous Democrat who was pro slavery, should not be honored. Sure, we can learn about him at a museum or in history books, but to be on display everywhere is just ridiculous.
Oops. Neither Tubman nor Smalls would fit here. Neither one was from Virginia.
There still has to be someone in Virginia better than an obnoxious high school student.
“That was his opinion of the time”
Maybe it still is.
Back to the point: Do you really think General Eisenhower supported treason?
You are breaking fellowship not just with the founding fathers and their children but with the WWII generation as well.
You just proved you know nothing about Lee. Do some research.
The cancel culture isn’t rational, it’s just growing in our current state of lawlessness.
> Actually we should all be thankful that Lee was a very good man. <
It’s also worth noting that after Appomattox some of Lee’s subordinates wanted to continue the war as a guerrilla force. That would have meant more bloodshed in the country for decades. But Lee put a firm end to such talk.
“Their inferiority complex is not my racism.”
“I posted Lee’s own words.”
And I posted General Eisenhower’s.
You reject General Eisenhower’s view and claim General Eisenhower supported a traitor.
You have broken fellowship not only with the founding fathers and their children, but with the WWII generation.
Democrats had an agenda, and a plan, to destroy this country. The GOP sat on their hands, for decades, and did nothing. It was watching a slow train wreck, Republicans didn’t react.
1) They took over the schools and public sector unions
2) then colleges
3) inner city churches
4) import immigrants
5) steal elections (they been doing this way before 2020)
6) media take over
7) RINOs
8) Antifa and civil unrest
9) social media
They had a plan, and it worked.
We failed because we just thought we would just work within their system. And that did work, for a while. But now they want us all dead. That is where we failed.
I think Thomas Jefferson may have been a better choice, but am well aware I am not “woke”.
Never heard of her. Will the statue be black?
The Wood Bros are definitely better than an obnoxious HS student. But they’re probably too ‘white.’
Or maybe one of these guys:

They’re too white, too, I suspect.
Geez, I hate this era.
“Robert E. Lee was a traitor who took up arms against his country.
He was given amnesty because he admitted it and repented.”
Can you cite the sentence where he admitted to being a traitor and repented?
> There still has to be someone in Virginia better than an obnoxious high school student. <
Yep. How about Virginian Desmond Doss? He volunteered for service in WW II and won the Medal of Honor. You might not recognize his name. But I bet you’ll recognize his story.

You mean all the mental gymnastics that slavery was bad for white people?
Great heroes! God Bless.
One of my hs teachers who became a Navy Chaplain was KIA in Vietnam and is buried on Chaplain Hill in Arlington.
Did Barbara Jones ever say anything nice about the USA? Did she love this country?
An angel of mercy!
Desmond Doss is literally perfect, except that he’s white...
