The new strain of COVID-19 is out of control and people need to behave as if they already have the virus, especially in the new Tier 4 areas of England, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has warned.

And are not sick?
Ahhh a new strain that’s how we keep it going.
Odd, I just finished an article about this new virus mutation that wasn’t alarmist at all.
As I understand it it’s more contagious but not more virulent.
The latest enemy is "Covid" JMHO!
“Odd, I just finished an article about this new virus mutation that wasn’t alarmist at all.”
Yeah they just make crap up.
Herr Goebbels would be impressed.
That’s not necessary a bad thing. One step closer to herd immunity.
".. it has also been discovered in every region of England, in Wales and in Scotland, albeit in "very small numbers".
"The variant - named VUI-202012/01 - has a "very clear genetic make up that we can follow", Dr Hopkins (U.K.) said.
It can be detected via whole genome sequencing, which takes two to three weeks.
"Other nations are also being affected. "Similar strains have been detected in Denmark and Australia, and there are other variants
that look very similar to this that have been detected in South Africa, in the Netherlands and other countries," Dr Hopkins said."
It’s neutral as far as i’m concerned. The virus will do what it will do. the vaccine will play some part as will natural immunity. Way past time to drop all the restrictions and get on with life
People should start posting the Goebbels picture on coronavirus-alarmism threads as well as on climate-change ones.
They are going to have to try harder to hide officials' dining, going to weddings, traveling, going without a mask to a hair salon after closing all others for Covid (Nancy PElosi).
It's like "assume crash positions"...
Only in this case, you imitate loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea, and then you hold your breath until you turn blue.
In other words, like the Spanish Flu, it is adapting to the human body to be able to live there without killing the human it has infected.
This is a problem?
I wondered if we were in for a repeat of the Spanish Flu pattern.
Virus sweeps in, taking out the weak, elderly, and/or vulnerable.
Virus mutates and sweeps back through, taking out the young and strong.
Virus mutates again, but weakens this time, and after a few more waves burns itself out.
History buffs, am I remembering that right?
Report to your Stalags!
It all comes down to choosing acceptable numbers.
By March, at current rates, we will see a 20+% increase in 65+ deaths over a normal year. That will probably chop about 1-2 years off of society life expectancy.
That’s with current restrictions.
So society has to decide if that’s acceptable, economically and early death-of-parents context. If it’s not acceptable, then the economy will be crushed further. If it is acceptable and maybe even 50% increase in 65+ deaths would be acceptable, then take off restrictions.
