A devastating cyberattack on US government agencies has also hit targets worldwide, with the list of victims still growing, according to researchers, heightening fears over computer security and espionage.

Microsoft said late Thursday that it had notified more than 40 customers hit by the malware, which security experts say came from hackers linked to the Russian government and which could allow attackers unfettered network access.

"While roughly 80 percent of these customers are located in the United States, this work so far has also identified victims in seven additional countries," Microsoft president Brad Smith said in a blog post.

Smith said the victims were also found in Belgium, Britain, Canada, Israel, Mexico, Spain and the United Arab Emirates.

"It’s certain that the number and location of victims will keep growing," Smith said, echoing concerns voiced this week by US officials on the serious threat from the attack.

The ONLY thing stopping these people from turning off every element of US Infrastructure is the threat of military retaliation.

They have us by the short hairs, and there's little to nothing we can do.

Everyone in the US government with a role in Cybersecurity is guilty of a massive crime of negligence. All of them.

Maybe we shouldn’t have outsourced all our electronics manufacture to our enemy.

Just looked at it last night.

Geez! Who could have guessed this was possible? If its hooked to the “www”, it’s hackable. From power grids to voting machines to credit cards to bank accounts to medical records to military info to vacation plans. 😱😯😰💸

Don't be such a cynic, the CIA would never do anything like that.

Without approval from the CCP.

(I am sure Gina has stock options with them)

The people promoting riots, endless lockdowns, released prisoners, no bail, stolen elections, fined businesses, wealth distribution, etc. care about cyber attacks? Hmmmm....

Why are any federal systems on the internet.
This couldn’t have happened in the 60s or 70s.

Well, maybe if the FBI and CIA were less concerned with investigating Trump and more concerned with investigating foreign cyber attacks, maybe this wouldn’t be such an issue...

Most people in the USA cannot answer a question or make a decision without google.
Can you imagine the chaos when the water, electricity and internet all disappear?

No more law and order, no mass communication, no goods and services, no hospitals...
The cities will eat themselves, then empty out across the country.

What cannot be conquered from without will be conquered from within.

Interesting that Treasury was named. I got a virus alert when accessing Schedule 2 in preparation for tax season.
