This will be a weekly post.
Count is now 233 judges confirmed.
3 Trade Court judges
173 District Court judges
54 Circuit Court judges
3 Supreme Court justices
This week the Senate confirmed Thomas Kirsch, Trump's 54th Circuit judge in less than four years. Obama had 55 in EIGHT years.
There are four District judges left on the floor. The remaining judges in committee will expire with the Congress, pretty much all are worthless anyway.
The only judge still in committee that SHOULD be confirmed is 1st Circuit nominee Raul Arias-Marxuach. He was brought in for a hearing on Wednesday but Chairman Graham has said there won't be time to confirm and "hopes" that a President Biden will reappoint him, as Bush and Trump did to Clinton and Obama nominees (they shouldn't have). But Senators Markey and Warren have already opposed Arias-Marxuach so he won't be reappointed.
SO SCHEDULE A VOTE, LINDSEY. YOU'RE IN CHARGE THERE!
Thank you for being the FReeper stalwart keeping us informed on the judicial appointments.
So far ... not impressed with PDJT’s judge appointments.
Ironically the two Bush bags have had the best SC appointees in Thomas and Alito. Trump’s 3 have, so far, sucked, including his latest.
“Trump’s 3 have, so far, sucked, including his latest.”
Yes; you are correct.
Just think if Georgia falls, Chuck Schumer Senate Majority leader.
At this point when I think of judges, I think of no action and corruption. It is really sad for this country.
Federalist Society bashed conservatives for years; but made up a marketing appearance for the Trump duration.
The Federalist Society is *OBSESSED* with being viewed as “enlightened” and not “meanspirited” -— the same as G. W. Bush, Romney, liberal elite, GOPe.
With one exception: the Federalist Society concern for public education, in that, the Society recognizes the war being promoted in schools by the left that defends violence vs education -— the same war by the Democrat Party’s thugs on the streets.
That does bother the liberal elite watching from behind their moats.
But, *that* in turn, is why the liberal elite want Trump gone: “So the mobs will go away!” The elite like to think.
Kavanaugh was blatantly a moderate groveler from day one. He was another Anthony Kennedy. After getting slaughtered by the left, he goes on to appease his new masters.
The guy was obviously a wormy kissass and no amount of mugging would make that tool a conservative. He’s as shallow as a London puddle.
And this Amy Conan O’brian lightweight. Her first big decision and she sides with Kagan and the fat shit wise latina?
Here’s a clue. If your thinking is in line with some partisan hacks, what does that make you?
Pack the court. Who cares? Outside of Thomas and Alito, they are all idiots and scumbags anyway.
👍
are you going to continue these threads if biden takes office?
there could be a lot of Democrat judges, many Clinton appointees, rushing to retire in the next six months.
Wouldn’t there be a 50-50 tie???
Agreed.
Apparently the Federalist Society and the Heritage Foundation haven’t been very good at selecting judges. Are there any other options?
I doubt I’ll continue these. The whole purpose of me starting these weekly posts was to put some fire under the asses of the republicans in the Senate to get going on judicial confirmations.
Toward the end of the summer of 2017, McConnell hadn’t been doing much. And they don’t act without pressure, without conservatives telling them to get moving.
So I started posting about judges, then making it a weekly post to both put pressure on those in power and to keep Freepers aware of what was going on with confirmations.
It’s a subject that interests me so I’ll still follow it. If the republicans keep the Senate, then Biden (if inaugurated) will need to temper his appointees in a more moderate direction or they won’t be confirmed.
We’ll see.
Thank you for doing this for the past several years. It is nice that McConnell and other senators stepped up to ensure that there is no backlog of unfilled judicial seats, its one of the bright spots of the end of this term.
