On Dec. 18, the Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for a COVID-19 vaccine made by Moderna, a biotech company based in Massachusetts.
The decision followed an overwhelming 20 to zero vote, with one abstention, in favor or authorizing the vaccine by an FDA vaccine advisory committee on Dec. 17.
“This evening the FDA granted the second emergency use authorization for a COVID-19 vaccine,” Dr. Stephen Hahn, commissioner of the FDA, said during a media briefing announcing the approval. “This is another crucial step in the fight against a global pandemic causing vast numbers of hospitalizations and deaths in the United States every day. The transparency around our review of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine should reassure the public that this vaccine met the FDA’s rigorous standards for quality, safety and efficacy. As with any decision made by the FDA this authorization was fixed solely by science and data.”
Last week, the agency issued the first EUA for a COVID-19 vaccine to Pfizer-BioNTech on Dec. 11. The two vaccines use the same technology, based on the genetic material mRNA, and in trials showed similar efficacy in protecting against COVID-19 disease.
In its EUA for the Moderna shot, the FDA, as it did with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, added a warning to providers that people with known allergies to components of the vaccine should not get the shot; a handful of reports of allergic reactions, some of them severe, have occurred in people who have been vaccinated with the Pfizer shot so far.
Dr. Peter Marks, director of the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, said it will be possible to get a better idea of which component of the vaccine might be generating the allergic reactions as more people are vaccinated with the two different shots;

I know people at Pfizer animal spinoff vaccine maker Zoetis in Kalamazoo Michigan. They recently opened up another facility in China. That’s all I have to say about that right now.

Well, you won’t need to “survive” because you’re not supposed to get infected anymore.

The hospitals will empty of COVID patients, and the death rates (the real rates) will plummet over the next 2-4 months.
Moderna is set to deliver 6 million doses next week, in addition to Phizer’s millions. Nursing Homes should get underway in earnest.
Because Moderna can be stored in regular freezers, it is going out to many more (smaller) locations than the Phizer product.
It is Boom Time, for stamping out this virus.
The call it Operation Warp Speed, but it is really Trump-speed.
And the FDA dragged its collective feet because?
The confirmed Active Case count in my County has dropped to 1% from 2% two weeks ago.
Partial Herd Immunity?
Hard to say for sure, but we should see a lot more of that in the next couple of months.
These vaccines are going to crush it (unless they are stopped or slowed by the Left).
