The Zip Codes That Rule America

The most important reason that changing the roster of states would probably not affect politics that much is that our states and congressional districts are mostly “rotten boroughs,” to use the old British parliamentary phrase. In theory senators represent the citizens of their states and members of the House represent the people of their congressional districts. In practice they represent individual and corporate donors and political allies and future employers, who may live anywhere in the United States—or in some cases abroad. Joe Biden was the senator from the credit card industry, based in Delaware.

The donors to American politicians in all 50 states are concentrated in a few ZIP codes. According to Open Secrets, of the ZIP codes that delivered the most campaign funding for the Democrats in 2020, not counting dark money or soft money for liberal groups, four of the top five were in New York City (10024, 10023, 10022, 10011), followed by Chevy Chase, Maryland (20815), a suburb of Washington, D.C. Other top Democratic ZIPs this year were Silicon Valley (94301 and 94022) and Cambridge, Massachusetts (02138). New York City was also overrepresented among donors to the Republican Party, whose donor base is more geographically diverse, with a lot of money coming from Dallas, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Palm Beach, Florida.

I was a poll worker volunteer this election, at the “Republican table.”
I was treated with contempt.
When I was talking a crippled man out of his car I was told “not to interfere,”
and was personally, physically pushed away by the election official with a rainbow banner bracelet.
She proceeded to “process” his ballot.
This was a national push.

Rush is off again.

Rush looked a little down yesterday. He certainly is a tougher man than I am. If he didn't mention it one would never know he is dying of cancer if you are just listening to him. Some of us with Ditto Cam access see his decline and weep for him. Prayers up for the true Great One.

Those are the zip codes that fund ruling America.

The zip codes that actually rule America are in Philadelphia; Milwaukee; Detroit/Wayne Co, MI; Atlanta/Fulton County, GA; and, Las Vegas/Clarke County NV.

With a side order of the zip code for McLean, VA.

When constitutionalists are assaulted, doxxed, or otherwise erased, it’s Social Justice. We lose our jobs, our houses, our families. Where were YOU during the election?

I used to live in Chevy Chase one of the zipcodes mentioned, it was full of tv talking heads, both repub and dem. Krauthammer and the Ledeens lived across the street, Chris and Kathleen Matthews further up Western etc, along with many Wash Post writers.
You’d see them at neighborhood christmas parties yucking it up. We sold our house to outgoing Clinton people who got crazy high paying jobs at NGO’s...So happy I moved to a more normal rural area.

“We can draw state borders however we like and add or subdivide states if we choose. But to the extent our influence is limited to voting, most of us are just renters in American politics. The donors, wherever they happen to live, own it.”

The ZIP Codes That Rule America!:

The real divide isn’t between red states and blue states or cities and rural areas. It’s between mega-rich political donors and everyone else.

Back it up with facts and names. The surviving Koch brother, Charles Koch, is all for more immigration.https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/12/15/billionaire-koch-urges-gop-democrats-to-pass-amnesty-increase-immigration/
“Most big Democratic donors are neoliberals who do not want Medicare for All or strong labor unions and most big Republican donors are libertarians who do not want low-wage immigration or access by multinational corporations to cheap labor in China and elsewhere to be restricted. “
