Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) confirmed on Dec. 16 that she is open to objecting to electoral votes during the Jan. 6, 2021, joint session of Congress.
“I haven’t looked at it,” Loeffler told reporters in Georgia. “January 6 is a long way out and there’s a lot to play out between now and then.”
A spokesperson referred The Epoch Times to Loeffler’s remarks, when asked if the senator has decided whether or not to object to votes during the joint session.
On that day, the House of Representatives and Senate are scheduled to meet to count electoral votes from 50 states and the District of Columbia.
As of the current unofficial count, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has enough electoral votes to win the presidency. But President Donald Trump is contesting election results in key battleground states and in seven states, dueling sets of electors cast votes.
During the session, lawmakers can file objections to electoral votes. Objections must be submitted in writing and be signed by at least one member of the House and one senator. If that occurs, legislators in the House and Senate withdraw to their respective chambers to consider the merits of the objection or objections.
The chambers then vote separately on the objection. If there’s a majority vote in each chamber, the objection stands, and the votes are nullified.
Besides Loeffler, Sens. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), and Rand Paul (R-Ky.) have said they’re open to objecting. Spokespersons for the other Republican senators and senator-elects haven’t responded to requests for comment, other than Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), who said he doesn’t support the effort.
Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), John Thune (R-S.D.), and Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) are among the Republican senators who have dismissed the idea of joining the planned objections.

*A long way out* is measured in many months if not years, not in weeks
So basically she’s just saying whatever she thinks she needs to say to get people to vote for her and has no conviction about it, which means she won’t do anything..
RE: Have you not been paying attention to her record in the Senate? She has been a strong Trump supporter.
........................................................
Some people are just naturally cynical
************************************************
True dat. But I swear it seems that a number of FReepers have lost a standard deviation of intelligence since the election. Folks who previously would NEVER want Schumer running the Senate now are almost actively working for that.
>>> the discussion may very well be moot for big gap tooth has a bag full of a million “votes” already.
Yeah... the more i think about this, the more i’m wondering if Lin Wood was actually on the right side of this.... i.e. boycott the vote, because it’s illegal anyway... whatever the outcome, its still going to be illegal.
I’ve even heard they intend on shutting out GOP inspectors again so they cannot even challenge ballots.
GA is a mess.. It’s gonna take the military to hold a fair one there now.
And her Xi abstract painting aligns well with PDJT...not!!!
Yeah, The GOPee should be stepping up to fix vote fraud, but they don’t, in State after State.
“Some people are just naturally cynical.”
Oh come now, I mean, certainly no one here at FR is cynical. /s/
Seriously, the cynical ones, the ones hiding under the bed, wetting their pants, clutching the pearls or just plain old Debbie Downers are in abundance here.
There has always been some, but this election is really bringing them out.
Well I think you are smart enough to know which one to pick.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... And Trump himself said she is a very fine senator.
OK Lets don’t get too weepy over Loeffler. She bought the Senate seat for $500,000 from Kemp then immediately weaseled her way onto the senate Agricultural Committee which oversees her husband’s business. She’s a card carrying RINO who if in the unlikely event she can get herself elected on Jan 5th will promptly fall into perfect lockstep with the Republican leadership in the senate. At least she will vote the right way some of the time. She’s a free trading globalist but so is Perdue and most of the rest of the republicans in the senate. Yes I am going to hold my nose and vote for both of them on Jan 5th.
The Secretary of State will be on top of it
She wants to use this to get elected and then forget about it.
Her husband is worth 500 million
She doesn’t care
If she is such a Trump supporter, why is she hedging with “might”?
It’s a con by the Loft.
RE: The Secretary of State will be on top of it
Thanks, that makes me feel better now... /sarc
I thought the same..😆
Hey Kelly, mights grow on a chickens ass.
Hey Kelly, mites grow on a chickens ass.
Look at this conditionally, sequentially. If Perdue and Loeffler lose, Dems will control the House and the Senate. If Trump was re-elected by alternate means and inaugurated - he would face an impeachment in no time. So, control of the Senate is a predicate. If Both Senators are retained, then the efforts to get the electoral decision to the House (voting as states) should be evaluated. But, lose the Senate and nothing else matters.
She has the longest neck of any person I have ever seen. The giraffe senator.
