A new effort to save California's restaurants is underway at the state capital.
A bipartisan group of eleven state senators, including Sen. Andreas Borgeas of Fresno and Sen. Melissa Hurtado of Hanford, are urging Gov. Gavin Newsom to classify restaurants as an essential business and allow them to reopen.
"Many restaurants have gone out of business, and now, with the approach of winter and new guidelines that restrict indoor dining, many others will be forced to consider a similar choice," the letter said.
So far, there's been no comment from the governor's office.

This is open warfare on the middle-class.
It’s too successful for him to reverse his actions.
He’s probably wondering what other group he can find to
destroy.
Careful. Don’t make Gavin mad.
This is the best argument for the electoral college. Big blue cities collecting taxes on responsible citizens to pay for folks who have no skin in the game.
Folks are in the middle of recalling his ass right now.
They have half the signatures needed. Not sure how that
applies to the time frame they have to get them.
He’s probably wondering what other group he can find to
destroy.

Someone needs to tie him to a fence and let the business owners take a swipe at his spinless ass with a flyswatter. After 10000 swats it might teach him a lesson.
Yeah, but that’s already in the mix right now.
I like how big business is moving out of California.
Good luck covering the bills Newsom.
People in California vote Dem all the time. Boldly and strongly voting Dem.
They should be happy about the policies they voted for representatives to enforce.
As in any state, you have idiots and folks who vote like you
do.
Those that vote like you do are vulnerable to the directives
of idiots the others vote in.
I like seeing the Left have to live by what they voted for,
but I don’t care for it myself.
I was born here and have lived 55 years of my life here.
I live to the state. I may have to move out at some point.
Not yet...
With few exceptions, government funding comes from everyday economic activity within their borders. States (unlike the Federal Government) can not simply print more money.
The revenue stream into California coffers has to have declined over the past eight months. The state like many lives paycheck to paycheck with little reserved for emergency.
So the question is, how is California going to pay it’s bills as the Governor intentionally blocks normal commerce?
You're tellin' me? I live in Michigan under Whitmer. I realize you and I are in the minority and I should be kind in my remarks.
Marc Levin for years said "You (caller) are at fault. If you hate your state so much you should move out." Does he realize how hard it is for a non-multimillionaire unlike him, to move out? Job setback, school change, cultural change, unintended consequences (my sister in law's block turned to all Spanish speaking neighbors over a two year period), and moving costs and losses. Plus physical packing for people over 70 (me) with a bad back and sore joints (me).
I hear ya.
I have family here also. So if I decide to move away, I’ll be
without family.
It’s a mess.
Best wishes to you.
Sooner or later the government will figure out they’re not collecting enough taxes to feed them. They’ll start really cracking down and maybe taking money from direct deposits like the IRS did during the TEA party?
Anyway, churches, small business, medicine, energy? Food/farmers and ranchers?
It can mint its own coin from local gold.
California does not have a stockpile of metal to use to print their own currency.
