Before the 20th Amendment, it didn’t. FDR just missed being assassinated before taking office. So besides shortening the time before taking office from March to January, it provides that should the President-Elect die before taking office, the V.P.-Elect takes his place. So as of yesterday, CommieLa will take office should Biden shuffle off of this mortal coil.
