It's been that way in the United States since the late 1910's. Just check out how Rockefeller used the government to solidify the Pharmaceutical industry.

The real change is the switch of the allegiance of the ruling class from the USA to a sort of globalist dream, or vision.

Wilson was a SOB, but he was an American SOB, generally. Up until about 1965, the American elite at least wanted America to be the leader of the world.

The globalists see themselves as "citizens of the world", and want a world government.

They see America as just another nation-state whose power has to be reduced and whose "residents" must be tamed.
