NEW YORK — A Bible-toting gunman who opened fire at an open air a cappella Christmas choral event, held at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Manhattan, was shot dead by police on Sunday after shouting “Kill me!” according to eyewitnesses.

Images captured by Reuters show moments from the deadly standoff, including pictures of the gunman, New York Police Department Officers, and frightened onlookers running away and huddling at the scene.

“Our Carols for the Community event this afternoon was interrupted by an armed individual, who set off a round of gunfire into the air from our front steps. Thankfully, no injuries were reported among the attendees and the suspect is in custody. It is horrible that our choir’s gift to New York City, a much-needed afternoon of song and unity, was cut short by this shocking act of violence,” the church said in a statement on Facebook after the shooting. “We will remain strong, together, and serve as a safe space for prayer, meditation and celebration during the upcoming holiday season. We are grateful to our first responders, and our prayers are with all those affected by this event.”

Police Commissioner Dermot F. Shea said at a press conference that they were still waiting to confirm the identity of the shooter but identification found on the person a shows a 52-year-old man with a lengthy criminal record, including a conviction for second-degree murder in 1990. He also noted that two semiautomatic firearms were recovered from the scene along with a bag filled with gasoline, wire, rope, multiple knives, tape and a Bible.

No bail in NY, no punishment of violent protesters across America, this stuff is going to get worse.

Depleted ammo supplies is a future indicator, people are trusting their own eyes and preparing.

If it weren’t for the Bible, he never would have done this awful thing (/MSM)

Wire, rope and tape may hint that he had hostage taking plans that for whatever reason he didn’t follow through.

"...Bible-toting gunman..."

My hope is that President Trump returns for a triumphant second term. He won in a landslide and we are observing criminality now.
Should he be displaced by Biden (who would quit) prior to Harris assuming office...my bet is there will be a MASSIVE terrorist event involving gunfire.
It will be orchestrated by Deep State actors to facilitate the most draconian gun-grab we have ever witnessed. Take it to the bank.

So far they haven’t identified him, other than to say he was 52 years old (so they konw who he is). I’d be surprised if he turned out to be a “disgruntled Christian.”

He also had a large bag with cannisters of gasoline and an assortment of explosives, but I think perhaps he couldn’t get into the church with it. He started shooting after an outdoor concert on the steps, and probably when he read about the concert, he thought it would be inside.

I grew up nearby, incidentally, and the church is the typical liberal flake Episcopal church, which had an algae pond in the nave to show their commitment to ecology (this was actually in the mid 90s, so they were ahead of the curve). The algae pond started to smell so bad they had to take it out...LOL!

The attacker shouldn’t have bothered, St. John the Divine has spent many years destroying Christianity on its own.

That said, it’s odd - not really - that they know his age but otherwise won’t release any details about the attacker.

Nothing about the excerpt suggests the man was a Christian, or that he was actually “toting” a Bible, which generally means he’s holding it in his hands. Sounds like it may have been in his bag, maybe as a prop to help him get into the building.

On the other hand, I can’t read the article, because the link is bad.
