BREAKING: President Trump will pardon Julian Assange.
(Excerpt) Read more at twitter.com ...
Was s/he pardoned or did Obama commute the sentence? There is a difference.
You are sorry that I’m a pro United States Patriot?
Will you at least be honest and publicly admit then that you supported Obama pardoning Assange’s accomplice?
P okay then what is the practical difference? Either way you slice it you still support what Obama did right?
If you don't mind, THAT is what we are trying to AVOID!!!
“Because he committed probably the worst espionage against the United States in history? Are you a transgender rights activist?”
He did? What did he leak?
Wikileaks are a media organization LIKE the New York TImes.
I don’t like the NYT but I support their reporting of classified material which is in the public interest .
Or do you think NYT journalists should be put in prison too?
That is quite an extreme view.
We can hope.
You are really unfamiliar with this? he had his accomplice, Bradley Manning who later became Chelsea and let Manning who was US service member, go in and use classified access to download millions and millions of millions and files and release it to the world.
Did you mean to send this to me?
Wikileaks is not a media organization like the New York times. Wiki release no commentary or anything of sense. They merely sent Bradley Manning into download millions and millions of classified files and put them there for all the world to see including Al Qaeda and Isis.
So you really believe that sending a member of the United States military in to download as many files as they could is the legitimate objective of media organization? because I’d like to see any journalism school in the United States support what you’re saying.
Good. Now Snowden
wow what a straw man. So you believe the New York times reporters are immune to prosecution if they commit a crime?
because yes if a New York times reporter worked with a traitorous member of the military to download every classified or top secret file they could, yes then that New York times reporter committed a crime and they should go to jail. You don’t believe that someone should go to jail for committing espionage?
You don’t believe the United States has the rights of a sovereign nation?
You can’t just commit a crime and then say you’re a media organization and then that’s okay. So if I say I’m a media organization I could come over and stab you and you think that would be legal?
You are basically saying the United States has no right to its own defense and no right to its own classified information. That the United States is a lesser country than all the other nations in the world.
Sorry I guess I got a confused.
Just to be clear You don’t think that espionage against the United States is a crime?
SNOWDEN NEXT!
Yes, before they terminate him.
Correct, it doesn't promote fake news like the NY Times does.
I actually think so too.
Hunter would be in a spot to accept it, and then Joe’s “guilty.”
Hunter could reject it...and then Hunter is “fair game.”
It would be a master stroke. And a hilarious way to walk out the door.
I do not want Snowden pardoned... in fact, he should have had the book thrown at him long ago.
In my mind, a “whistleblower” is one exposing a single-topic case of illegality, and whether he may or may not have grounds to do so, Snowden’s illegal document release was more comparable to blowing several orchestras worth of horns as compared to a “whistle”.
The notion that he may have uncovered something worthy of calling himself a “whistleblower” comes off as an ingenuous defense-mechanism given that he exposed hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of highly sensitive materials.
So even for those believing he’s a hero for exposing some relatively limited activity that may be illegal, he could certainly have done so in a much more restricted manner. Instead, he fire-hosed our entire intelligence-collecting apparatus, and that - again, this is in my mind - is unforgivable. YMMV.
