A hack initially corrupted a Solarwinds file, after which, that corrupted Solarwinds file had/has been installed on various Windows OS based machines as a part of routine updating.

The hacked file hatches, you might say, active hack commands that find certain files and deletes those certain files.

The hack tries to hide its tracks, and then force a reboot of the Windows OS based machine.

It is a cover-up.

How convenient. When your shady company is going to be investigated, have your buddies at THEIR shady company “hack” your shady system, and then prepare a big crock story for the investigators. (Am I too paranoid)?

From a technical standpoint, this is pretty ingenious. Instead of trying to make their malware undetectable they hacked up an otherwise-trusted piece of code that users would not suspect. Wolf in sheeps clothing.

Of all the things that Dominion does wrong, Solar Winds being used is not one of them. Solar Winds is a major player in its field. The bigger problem is due to the fact that something as simple as counting the number of votes for each candidate or proposition has been so needlessly complicated. If software MUST be used, it ought to be open source and on read only media.

The entire USA voting system could be handled by a $10k computer and enough switches to handle the USA traffic.
