What once seemed surely unthinkable has become, in just a few years, irrefutable. The evidence amassed by scholars, journalists and campaigners of grotesque human rights abuses in Xinjiang has begun to cut through to the wider public. On Thursday, the France and Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann cut his commercial ties to the Chinese tech giant Huawei, saying there were “strong suspicions” that it has contributed to the repression of Uighurs. His statement followed a report that Huawei tested a facial recognition system developed by artificial intelligence firm Megvii that could be used to identify Uighurs and trigger an alert to their presence. (Huawei has said that its technologies are not designed to identify ethnic groups.)
In parallel, a rare leak of a prisoner list from a camp has shown how a government data programme has targeted Uighurs for detention simply for being young, using VPNs, or speaking to relatives abroad. These stories offer a truly chilling vision of a hi-tech surveillance society and give the lie to China’s claims that its actions in Xinjiang are focused on targeting terrorism and separatism, and do not treat a population as inherently suspect.
The government initially denied the existence of mass detention camps – in which around a million people are thought to have been held without charge or trial – before saying that they were education centres for alleviating poverty and preventing extremism.

How many blacks or even whites have been elevated to senior positions in Chinese companies that operate in foreign countries while China insists upon and installs commies within British and other foreign firms operating within China.

I wonder if the woke millenial crowd will continue to show how stupid and immature they are and were with their claims of Trump being racist without proof while Biden did nothing for 26 years to undo his 94 Crime Bill whereas Trump did try to undo it with his First Steps Act.
Guardian’s hero Biden would rather enable China than help Uighur. So would other tech giants. They are ruthlessly oppressing domestic political opponents, but becoming real sweethearts for a foreign enemy like China. Xi is their big daddy. They all compete for his love.
Biden, Harris, Democrats, woke millenials, China, Antifa, BLM, etc, have zero credibility due to the above in post #1, this and are all thus illegitimate and illegitimate in their claims.
By why should we be surprised. Orwell wrote that those with a collectivist mindset believe the party is always right, no matter the objective evidence contrariwise, as they don’t believe in that but only in their make-believe world where gay marriage is normal while on their way to destroying it altogether, men are women, women are men, there is no truth even though it would be untrue to say there is no truth if there isn’t, and their general philosophy of do as thou wilt, its all okay, and to the gulags if you disagree.
But wouldn’t the tech giants say that China has little to no evidence to brand the Uighurs as terrorists and that it would be a massive Sweeping Generalization for China to call all the 1 million Uighurs terrorists?
Another question: wouldn’t the tech giants also say it would be a massuve Sweeping Generalization for anyone to say all the Muslims in many countries are terrorists?
And what would they say about lack of blacks or even whites employment in Chinese firms operating in foreign companies?
On the topic of truth:
Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.
