The FBI has reportedly issued at least one federal subpoena for records from the office of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) amid an investigation over allegations of bribery and abuse of office.
Local outlet KVUE reported on Thursday that the subpoena was issued the day prior, however it is not immediately clear what information was requested by the FBI.
The subpoena comes amid an ongoing investigation after members of Paxton's staff raised red flags about actions Paxton allegedly took to benefit Nate Paul, an Austin investor and wealthy donor.
A group of current and former Paxton aides sent a letter to the state’s office of human resources on Oct. 1, claiming to have sent information to federal law enforcement. They reported that the state official had hired an outside lawyer to investigate Paul’s assertion that the FBI improperly raided his home and offices last year.
The complaint also alleges that Paul employed a woman with whom Paxton had an affair and that Paxton had recommended for a job, according to the Austin American-Statesman.
The whistleblowers said in the lawsuit that over time, Paxton became “less rational in his decision making and more unwilling” to listen to criticism.
The full extent of Paxton’s connection with Paul is still unclear, according to a report from The Associated Press. Paul reportedly donated $25,000 to Paxton’s reelection campaign in 2018.
Paxton, however, has denied any wrongdoing and said that “after reviewing the claims made by former employees of this office, their allegations are overblown, based upon assumptions, and to a large degree misrepresent the facts.”
The attorney general made national headlines this week for filing a lawsuit in the Supreme Court against four battleground states in an effort to halt presidential electors from finalizing President-elect Joe Biden's victory over President Trump.
I thought the FBI wasn’t going to do investigations during political issues. That’s why they sat on Hunter’s laptop.
China at work. Nothing to see.
Bush will win AG if Paxton is removed.

Bingo! The Bushes are globalist elite.
“Besides, if Paxton’s lawsuit in the SC goes well, he’ll forever be a hero in Texas. “
That’s why Jeb and Cornyn have freaked out over the past few days.
Administrative subpoenas have most commonly been issued by the Offices of the
Inspector General of various federal agencies.[4] The Drug Enforcement
Administration was granted administrative subpoena authority under the
Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970.[2] In 1996
Congress expanded the authority to issue the subpoenas to the Federal
Bureau of Investigation when investigating health care fraud cases
under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. More
recently, Public law 106-544 December 19, 2000 the Department of Justice
has attempted to expand administrative subpoena authority to terrorism
investigations through amendments to the Patriot Act.[4][5]

Dear FBI,
I’m busy right now with this election lawsuit deal. I will be back in touch when I have some free time.
Best wishes, and say hi to Comey and Hillary for me.
Ken Paxton

Exactly, WTF.
The appearance of political strong-arming and intimidation here is ridiculous.
Let’s just say for argument’s sake that this has been in the pike for a long time was going to come down now anyway, then delay it. You have to know that at the very least the optics are terrible for the FBI on this. Whose political attack dog do they want to look like they are?
This was a Cornyn-Bush-Barr hit on Paxton.
Can there be any question about where their allegiance lies ?
Slow to investigate Clinton server..; then absolved due to 'plausible deniability'
Slow to investigate and charge Anthony Weiner laptop copies of Clinton "classified" emails
Didn't even bother to investigate the Seth Rich homicide.
Slow or didn't investigate Michael Hastings motor vehicle accident, possible vehicle having been tampered with,
even though two agents were there a couple minutes later(at 4:15 AM ?).
Can there be any question about where their allegiance lies ?
But, they can jump right on a complaint of bribery and possible illegal use of office, the day after receiving the complaint.
Impartiality ? .. Right !
Maybe I’m nuts or its just wishful thinking, but if Paxton is somehow removed, a TRUE conservative could be groomed to run against George P. Bush. The Bush name is no longer revered in Texas like it once was.
The election is in 2 years and the Cornyn bucks are now Bush bucks for George P. It’s a nightmare!
So true
No more shrubs
I’m willing to give Barr more time before lumping him in with Cornyn & Bush.
Look how fast they jumped to investigate !
A phalanx of Texas Rangers guarding the records with order to use extreme prejudice
Barr approved this deep state hit on Paxton!
Times up Barr. Pick up your bagpipes and leave. M
Wait? Wut?
The Comey era. No reasonable prosecutor, etc. i.e. they must have "reasoned" with some prosecutor.
Lord willing, if Trump gets 4 more years, he'll bust up their swampy little fantasy and support someone else if they succeed in removing Paxton.
