Trump Asks Sen. Cruz to Argue Texas Supreme Court Election Case
KABC ^ | December 9, 2020 | Newsmax

President Donald Trump has asked Texas Sen. Ted Cruz to argue the state’s Supreme Court case seeking to overturn the results of the election, reports The New York Times.

The state of Texas is suing four swing states that certified wins for Joe Biden.

Attorney General Ken Paxton in the suit filed earlier this week argued that a handful of battleground states destroyed the integrity of the 2020 election vote totals and insists the U.S. Constitution was violated by allowing their legislatures to make last-minute changes that ignored federal electoral regulations.

Cruz on Monday offered to present before the Supreme Court the merits of a lawsuit filed by Rep. Mike Kelly claiming Pennsylvania’s 2019 voting reform bill is unconstitutional.

The high court on Tuesday rejected Kelly’s lawsuit.

I’d add Josh Hawley.

:-)

I thought it had to be the Texas Solicitor General.

Good to see Ted on board.

Hmm. I did not know that. Weird... Thanks.

If that is correct then I can think of few better than Cruz to argue to the Supreme’s whether for the State or Trump in his personal capacity.

With this scenario such that existing Texas Solicitor General has cold feet, I have another twist that would maybe be interesting

1. Paxton thanks the current solicitor general for his ethics in disclosing the conflict then fires his ass.

2. Paxton finds the best, most MAGA passionate and SCOTUS level lawyer there is to argue Texas's case.

3. Cruz argues for Prez Trump.

Dream team is the name of the game.... Also, I am assuming that SOTUS both approves Prez Trump's intervener request and allots time for argument.

Cruz using it as a springboard to a SCOTUS or even POTUS seat

Unfortunately, he's a Cubanadian.

I have no idea whether this is true and would expect Paxton would have some say in the final choice. Ideally the case has been under development in secret for some time with Cruz contributing all along so he’s had time to become up to speed on all its issues. We don’t want anyone just winging this. But if Cruz does it I’d also expect his very best attempt. Cruz clearly still has presidential aspirations and is young enough to wait for them. Presuming he can overcome the oft here discussed issue of his eligibility, he has one more significant barrier to those dreams. The many Trump fans, especially early Trump fans, who became “never Cruzers” during the 2016 campaign. Time has shown they will not be easily converted, but delivering a winning SCOTUS case to rescue Trump’s second term might do it if anything could. He, Trump, and all of us, could sure use a home run here.

>The high court on Tuesday rejected Kelly’s lawsuit.

That is false, it just rejected the request for an injunction now. The suit could still achieve cert. We can pray a favorable decision in Texas's suit will render Kelly's moot and that SCOTUS planned it so.

I felt very strongly when he was running that Ted Cruz was running to save the Republic.

Now’s his chance. And he’s prepared for it.

Go, Ted!

A poster over at TheDonald.Win said:

"I love how she [SCOTUS Justice ACB] made the point several times during her hearing process that “Judges are not Policymakers”. Thats a lot of what the Texas lawsuit is arguing. Judges in all those states cannot just rule to change the voting laws. If they didn’t know, they’ll be finding out very soon."

I think we're gonna win this.

Texas filed the suit so if it makes it to oral arguments then I believe that the Texas Solicitor General is the one who will argue it. And considering this is probably Trump’s last, best hope then I would suggest it be left in his hands and that of his staff rather than a politician.

I thought I heard Cruz say that he has won five and lost four at SCOTUS. I could be wrong.

Since his bad behavior at the GOP Convention I’m hoping he has had a true come-to-Jesus moment. It seems that he has been sincere in his support of PDJT. If so, I think he could kick butt arguing in the current case.

It’s still not to late to continue praying for a Trump inauguration in January.

“he needs someone who is heavy hitter and not considered partisan”

Maybe his short tiff with PDJT during the 2016 election will serve him well in that he’d be considered less partisan than others. I dunno. For a month now, I’ve been praying as hard for Trump’s attorneys as I have for Trump himself.

I think, if SCOTUS is still adhering to the Constitution, this case is a slam dunk. We all KNOW what we’ve seen. More comes out each day. Election “laws” have been superseded by mandates and fiats. Voters have been disenfranchised. The rights of many American citizens (some 75 million of them) have been violated.

SCOTUS is the ultimate defense of the rule of law in our land. Without the rule of law, we are not America and, as such, have no need of the rule of law...or the Constitution (or, in that case, a SCOTUS). We are about to find out whether we are America anymore, whether we have a functioning Constitution, a functioning Supreme Court.

“Alan Dershowitz says Cruz is the best debater he ever had in law school.”

I thought I’d heard him say that, too. Or that Cruz was his best student overall.

I never really liked or trusted Dersh too much, but have to give him credit for standing up for the Constitution throughout most of the Trump issues. He has sacrificed a lot — basically, his former cushy and privileged life — by being firm on the Constitution. So many others, many GOPs, have turned on Trump to keep their elite status healthy.
