Dozens of Trump political appointees are petitioning to become part of the permanent bureaucracy — a process known as "burrowing" that is common at the end of administrations... (the rest of the story behind paywall)

Can’t read the article.
How ‘bout a Cliff Note.
Good news if they stay loyal and don’t become corrupted...
Trump won a second term - someone let them know.
In short, a bunch of Trump appointed bureaucrats want to save their phony baloney jobs and perpetuate the Deep State.
Just like Obama’s hacks. Hope they succeed
I think that’s a pipe dream. The only chance to stay is to join the other side.
I suspect the dozens are mostly 20 somethings that this may have been their 1st job and are scrambling for a landing spot.
Why is this good news? The permanent bureaucracy is why America is where it is today.
Ditto.
They could be future whistle blowers - that’s why ...
Dozens? Hardly. Maybe a half-dozen.
The can’t be fired but they can be promoted from their current positions to Deputy Assistant Undersecretary for Water Coolers and Umbrella stands or something equally useless.
The Trump Administration should still be working to root out Obama staffers and continue to do so until they are all gone.
Gah.
I’m a federal employee and a huge Trump fan. Not all feds are leftists or swampish. My conservative son just started a new federal job. I have several conservative federal employee friends.
Feds who work in the military or border security and other agencies like NASA and the FDIC etc also tend to be conservative (I work for a more “liberal” agency but I strive to faithfully represent the taxpayers’ interests always).
I can see why Trump appointees would like to become part of the permanent bureaucracy. That way they can have a lasting impact, actually. We feds do have to implement whatever regs/policies are enacted, but conservatives have a lot of common sense and excellence that can help mitigate poor policies (I’d say).
So it’s better to have those jobs filled by Trump people than by leftists, for many reasons.
My comment was about the “permanent bureaucracy.” If you eliminate Federal employment as a way of life, you eliminate concerns about loyalty and to a great extent, waste.
Conservatives need to step up and start getting federal jobs. We also need to step up and start working as journalists, professors, programmers for Big Tech, and public school teachers. We’ve ceded all of that to the left and look where that got us.
Most work in the federal sector is contracted out. The federal bureaucracy has shrunk and is much better than it used to be 25 years ago. The hiring is better.
(That said, and I don’t work for the CDC, but I wasn’t surprised at all when they screwed up those covid test kits in Jan-Feb.)
And in all honestly I don’t even believe in my agency’s mission at all, but I can help mitigate the damage.
