Where I live, pizza chains - national and regional - have been disappearing. In my area, two Godfather's closed, two Pizza Huts, three Shakey's (regional), two Domino's, all Pizza Pete's (regional), and all Pizza Haven's (regional).

There's one new regional chain (Mod's), several upscale places with two or three locations, some one-off places, and a Little Caesar's.

A Pizza Hut opened in the town I grew up in while I was in High Skrool. I think we passed the health inspector coming in as we left one time and by a few hours another time. They chained the doors and it was closed for a week or so.

Probably the worst food poisoning I have ever had both times. I still cannot hardly make myself eat pizza.
