The U.K. was the first country to authorize the vaccine for emergency use. In trials, the vaccine was shown to have around 95% efficacy. Vaccinations will be administered starting Tuesday at around 50 hospital hubs in England. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will also begin their vaccination rollouts the same day.
"I feel so privileged to be the first person vaccinated against Covid-19, it's the best early birthday present I could wish for because it means I can finally look forward to spending time with my family and friends in the New Year after being on my own for most of the year," Keenan said, according to the report.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, sparked controversy earlier when he said U.K. regulators hadn’t acted “as carefully” as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Fauci said late Thursday that he meant to say U.S. authorities do things differently than their British counterparts, not better, but his comments weren’t phrased properly.

I will be the last one in my country who takes it.
2nd to last... right before me.
You couldn’t get it here even if you wanted to. The always wrong Fauci is insulting the British. The FDA is still dragging their feet. It could have been approved here in an hour.
We will have a pillow fight to determine last place, then.

I’m sure that the worthless and corrupt politicians will be at the top of the list to receive the vaccine. In the USA all are equal but some are more equal than others. This country’s days of greatness will be over soon. Very sad.
I just read an interesting article in “The BMJ” - the British Medical Journal.
None of the vaccine clinical trials were large enough or long enough to investigate two critical issues...
(1) Do the vaccines reduce the number of hospitalizations and deaths?
(2) Can vaccinated persons still transmit the disease?
There is another interesting issue...
There is a widely discussed plan to immediately vaccinate the test subjects who received a placebo in the trials.
Seems fair - but, that will wipe out essential long term data on the placebo cohort.
In addition - most people who got the placebo know they got the placebo because they had no response - sore arm, mild flu symptoms - to the shot.
That fact may have significantly altered their behavior after getting the shot.
And surely she has some "problems". 90 is 90...no matter how you cut it.
Awesome!!
Brilliant!!

I did not know that the UK contributed to the research of this vaccine? How much was contributed by the UK?
I initially figured that to be a typical fake, funny AND accurate meme. BUT, just for grins I dug a little... and nut much, to turn up:

Gates REALLY did say that, pretty much word for word! In the link, advance to about 4:00, and listen thru 4:30.
Thanks for the ted talk nudge.
This right here is why we should fight this “virus, I mean vaccine”:

Pfizer developed the vaccine with its own money, signing up customers in advance. The UK ordered some several months ago.
I believe the doses for the UK are made in a facility in Belgium, while the US doses come from Missouri.
Have they scheduled the funeral yet?
