I recall reading somewhere that Willie Nelson sold the rights to “Nightlife” back when he was a young songwriter just starting to make it for a sum of money that allowed him to buy a second hand car or some other small thing. And the song, of course, has since been recorded by all sorts of famous names and Willie likely would have been that much wealthier from that song alone had he held onto to the rights to it that number of more years.
