Stop Lin Wood and Sidney Powell Now, or They Will Control the GOP’s Destiny
National Review ^ | December 4, 2020 | JIM GERAGHTY

Posted on 12/05/2020 9:29:13 AM PST by Presbyterian Reporter

If significant numbers of Republican voters choose to not participate in the January 5 runoff elections for both Senate seats, and that leads to victories by Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, that will do nothing for Donald Trump, Trump’s legacy as president, the Republican Party, and the cause of conservatism.

It will, however, do a lot for Lin Wood and Sidney Powell, who would instantly become major power brokers in the Republican Party. They could take their “your vote was stolen by rigged machines” conspiracy-theory schtick to any state in the union and hold don’t-get-out-the-vote rallies for any race, telling Republicans that the elections are fixed and that participating in them is a form of acquiescence to terrible crimes. The GOP would effectively be held hostage by these lawyers, needing to concur with whatever bizarre claim they made — Georgia governor Brian Kemp stole money and gave it to China! The Federal Reserve is trying to destroy the economy on behalf of George Soros! — or suffer the consequences of Wood-Powell “Republicans must stay home and not vote” rallies in their backyard.

What we’re seeing in Georgia in these coming weeks is nothing less than a test to determine if the Republican Party has enough will to survive. If two lawyers can come out of nowhere with a farfetched conspiracy theory, and persuade thousands, or tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of self-identified Republican-learning voters to not make their voices heard at the ballot box, then the GOP — despite all of its gains in the state legislatures and U.S. House and Senate this year — will not really be a functioning force in American politics. Too many members of the party’s grassroots will be too gullible to be a reliable base of support, and willing to act in a way that fulfills the Democratic Party’s wildest fantasies.

Oh. NOW NR suddenly cares. It was no big deal when it was Trump who was on the receiving end of the election fraud, but when it’s a couple of THEIRS now it’s a problem.

Guess what idiots, it’s the same thing and entirely predictable that Democrats would be emboldened to cheat some more. Without the Trump win of the party, you’re nothing. There aren’t enough of you to win elections. Trump can reach voters you can only dream of reaching.

I read the 12th Amendment and I am not convinced the 12th Amendment says what the video guy says it does.

What is your take on the 12th Amendment?

What kind of a fool would sit out this election and let the dems take control? That’s right, only liberals would.

You can follow Trumps’ lead ( he just tweeted that no one should sit this out) or follow these two fool lawyers.

So, just who will you stand for?

Better idea, let’s just put the Senate back in the hands of Chuckie Schumer. Only a fool or a liberal would want that.

William F Buckley is spinning in his grave.
...........
Actually Buckley gave too much credence to James Burnham , the “ex-Trotskyite”, who paved the way for neo-cons and the eventual never Trumpers. Buckley probably regretted that, smart as he was, before he died.

The GA GOP is sitting out letting the Democrats steal the election. If they are going to help the Democrats steal it by their ACTIONS and SILENCE, why should GA Republicans support either candidate in the run off? Lin is trying to the the GA GOP to get off their butts and help. If they won’t help, they don’t deserve the support of GOP voters.

Trump is in GA today urging Reps not sit this one out.

Only a fool is going to give the Senate to Chuck Schumer.

GOP’s solution: The voting system is broken? Vote harder!

Wood's and Powell's solution. "Make us rich and we'll let the Democrats control everything, but you'll feel better!"

Not voting in the Senate run-offs and allowing Schumer (with Harris as the tie-breaker) to control the Senate is absolutely, grade-A retarded.

I disagree. If those two Georgia Republican Senate candidates can't even forcefully come out against the Democrats' Presidential election fraud (which, if Democrats get away with it, will destroy the very foundation of this country), then what good are they? What good are U.S. elections if no Republican politicians will ever stand up for free and fair elections?

Perdue and Loeffler were in a recent Zoom call together in which Perdue cheerfully said he really looks forward to Biden and McConnell working well together because they're both great "negotiators." And Loeffler just sat there, approvingly nodding her head yes. So the two of them seem certain he's President-Elect Biden who will be inaugurated on January 20. President Trump's in Georgia today to help those two, yet Perdue & Loeffler seem convinced President Trump is gone on January 20. And if I know that, then surely President Trump and his team know all about Perdue's Zoom call with Loeffler.

I respect your opinion but I haven't seen any good arguments on your side, just personal insults.

Political parties are just street gangs with better rhetoric. I don’t share your bitter disappointment with Republicans because I expect nothing but self-aggrandizement from any politician — parties exist to pursue that, not to serve you, me, or the country. Only question that matters: will Onsoff and Warnock destroy Liberty, enact gun bans and higher taxes, more government lockdowns and handouts, confirm far left judges, and generally destroy the country faster than Perdue and Loeffler?

Good point. A Senate seat is a senate seat.

Ben Sasse essentially called Conservatives - White Supremacists.

Lindsey Graham, Rubio, Tim Scott have made similar attacks.

These people wouldn’t call Joe or James, or Hunter Biden to ask about those Billions in Wire transfers.... Not a single question.

So, it’s easy to predict this gang can’t wait to Vote with Biden and move Along Biden’s agenda. Anyone who would think otherwise has been sleeping against a Tree for nine years.

That’s a great summary.

GOPe Senate will tear down the Trump movement as they did the Tea Party.

GOP Numbers only means larger Budgets and Cushier environs for the Republicans.

Crossovers nullify everything.

If you believe Murkowski, Sasse, Susan Collins, Ernst, Lindsey Graham, Tillis, Rubio, Tim Scott, Cornyn, and Grassley are going to vote against Biden - you just haven’t had blood flowing thru your brain for the past 5 years.

Yup. Politics creates strange bedfellows.

I am looking at current events through this lens. What is the most important?

1. Republicans from the Leadership on down supporting Trump fully and very actively in overturning the 2020 fraudulent election?

OR

2. Republicans supporting two GOP Senate Candidates in GA?

If I had a choice between these two options, without question I want Republicans to be very active in overturning the 2020 fraudulent election.

In fact, if I had to give up Senators like Romney, Rubio, Murkowski, Sasse, Collins, or Cornyn to the Democrats, I would still make the deal and feel I had come out a winner.
