Glad to see Gillian Anderson is till working, but she is only half as tall as Thatcher and only 1/1000th the human being.

I watched this and then went to YouTube to see the actual Thatcher (to refresh my memory).

The portrait was cartoonish, at best, whereas the others in the series were quite believable caricatures

Hardly suprising, showbiz luvvie scum hate conservatism and the ideology Thatcher represented, which is for the working class to aspire to personal advancement and self-reliance,

As opposed to the working class knowing their place, dependent on a state controlled by their intellectual ‘superiors’.

For a while in the 80s the Queen had a reputation as the "Anti-Thatcher," somebody who was "good" in all the ways Thatcher was "bad."

Whether it was intentional or not, it was clever triangulation. The Queen gained points with leftists who didn't like the monarchy, but lost none with conservatives who revered it. Win-Win for Liz.

Thatcher is arguably the most consequential British leader since Winston Churchill and easily one of the most important women of the 20th century.

Undoubtedly.

I stumbled across The Iron Lady the other night and, not having seen it, I thought it would be a good watch. But, it concentrated on Mrs Thatcher's years out of office, slightly dotty, and very little of her rise in Parliament and her time as PM. What a disappointment. It should have been called The Addled Lady, no disparagement of Mrs Thatcher intended, only the flick.

Even the one Hollywood film about her life, “The Iron Lady” starring Meryl Streep as Thatcher in 2011, chose to center on her last years when she suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, rather than to focus primarily on her unmatched achievements as a woman who broke a glass ceiling American politicians have yet to shatter, as well as become the longest-serving prime minister in modern British history.

Indeed. It wass a travesty.

It was hardly a surprise that Morgan’s show would follow this pattern by portraying Thatcher as a rigid ideologue, whose lack of empathy for the suffering of the British people would alienate her from the queen.

If conservatives are so mean and hard-hearted, how do the lefties think they get elected?!

They got Charles down-pat. A weak pathetic schmuck.

They always want to tear down Thatcher. A woman who actually wielded power and did it well, as well as having a chemistry doctorate.

And build up a vacuous non-entity pretty girl as some kind of hero.

The episode that I found the most enjoyable was the one where a common (somewhat crazy) man breaks into the Buckingham Palace, not once, but twice and the second time sat on the queens bed and had a scary, but normal conversation with her.

Sorry for the run-on.

Can you imagine something like that happening today?

She was a bit goofy. She shows up early for dinner, wears very inappropriate clothes for shooting, and is a workaholic who really had no life. I was shocked at out of touch the woman was. It’s the queen for god sake.

I was very disappointed at how they depicted this “uncommon” woman in The Crown.

....and generally, I have enjoyed the series.

Lady Thatcher saved modern Britain. And they hate her for it.
