Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva will not instruct his deputies to enforce a new statewide stay-at-home order announced Thursday that could force businesses to temporarily shut down as coronavirus cases continue to soar.
"I want to stay away from business [sic] that are trying to comply, they bent over backwards to modify their operations to conform to these orders and then they have the rug yanked out from under them, that's a disservice, I don't want to make them more miserable," he told Fox affiliate, KTTV-TV, according to a tweet.
Under Gov. Gavin Newsom's order, many businesses and activities would be forced to close for at least three weeks if capacity rates at intensive care units in several regions -- the Bay Area, Northern California, the greater Sacramento region, the San Joaquin Valley and Southern California -- dip below 15%.
The new rules would be implemented within 48 hours of hitting that level.
“The bottom line is, if we don’t act now our hospital system will be overwhelmed,” Newsom said.
Reportedly, hospital systems are overwhelmed already, with fewer than 2,000 intensive care beds available statewide. To date, about 8,500 people have been hospitalized due to the virus, including more than 2,000 in intensive care units.

Their owners are usually conservative and they donate to conservative causes.
Democrats like big businesses because they can control them and milk them under what we call "crony capitalism."
It seems the Democrats have come to understand the way China runs its "communist economy" quite nicely...and, that is, businesses can be privately owned but they are controlled by the Party.
This including gun shops? ‘cause I’ve got little confidence in that Sheriff having much respect for the constitution.

Above article is from July. And apparently many of these individuals are legit visa holders, dual citizens, etc. But of course some number of illegal aliens as well.

Or really need to be in a hospital to begin with? Occupied beds = Money until insurance clamps down. If they’re uninsured, govt pays. No one positive with COVID and symptoms will be denied a hospital bed if they want one.
No. The sole purpose of this latest pronouncement -- just as the restrictions and lockdowns that followed Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and now Thanksgiving -- is to punish, to hurt, to depress, to anger Californians who dared to disobey what Newsom mandated; that is, to cancel Thanksgiving. That's it! There's nothing more to it!
If this is truly about "public health" as Newsom the Vile rasps out each time he issues a new soul-crushing/individual Liberty-destroying diktat, then why repeat what has failed every single time it has been imposed over the past nine months! No. It's all about control ... of the need for a ego-driven maniac to show how "tough" he thinks he is. However, the most horrifying element of his actions is not the loss of Liberty and the incessant lying by Newsom the Vile and his idiot state health director, it's that Newsom the Vile clearly enjoys what he has done before and continues to do: Newsom the Vile clearly enjoys hurting adults beating up on families, and doing great harm California's children ... he clearly enjoys the power to shut down private businesses ... he clearly enjoys attacking our Constitution, attacking our American Republic and attacking American citizens who are unfortunate enough to live in California. Hitler said it best: private property owners and businesses may exist provided they carry out the necessary mandates of the state.
That said, I think the Chinese magic will cease once they fully apply communist "thought control" to people who actually believes they are free because they are, at present, competing and interacting with free countries.
Once a communist country finally "locks down" its people, the gloom settles in.
The LA county board (AKA as BLM) wants to remove the elected sheriff (a Mexican) and appoint a BLM lackey.
To say this is interesting is an understatement. This will bring the simmering race war between Mexicans and blacks to the front page. As it is now, the national media refuses to cover the long-running racial strife between these democrat allies, in fear of seeing the rat party ripped apart by a race war. It’s just a matter of time before the lid blows off the pot.
In nearly every confrontation between the Mexicans and blacks, the blacks have gotten their asses seriously kicked. Entire communities in California that were once majority black are now majority Mexican.
That sheriff that the racist BLM is looking to remove is protecting Mexican neighborhoods and businesses from the democrat racist BLM. That sheriff isn’t going anywhere.
