An Afghan major under U.S. protection at a U.S. base after the Pentagon reversed its decision to approve his move to the United States, said he has been told he will be forced to leave the base Monday if he does not rejoin the Afghan air force.

It is criminal when the US screws over somebody who put himself at risk to save US soldiers and wouldn’t betray the country.
At this point accepting ANY promise from the US government is almost comical in it’s willful ignorance. There is almost something fine about such childish innocence.
It’s no wonder Kim decided that any deal with Trump wouldnt be worth the paper it was written on as soon as Congress, DOD, State, the intel community, the “interagency group”, Bolton, and the GOPe got their dirty hands on it.
The last thing we need are any more muslims......

Oh, I fully agree. But when he turns his attack helicopter against his own base one afternoon. Our brilliant generals will be mystified as to “why”.
OK, so he rejoins the Afghan Air Force and gets to stay on the US base. When he stays on base he is charged with being AWOL or desertion from duty. In either case he is turned over to the air force because of the charges or he leaves the base and is killed by the Taliban. A Catch 22 only the military could think up.
This sort of thing is really upsetting! There are still interpreters from the early 2000s in the ME who risked their lives to help us and we didn’t fulfill our promise to get them here.
I love our military, but this is an area where they are totally falling down on the job.
