The most horrifying thing about this current situation is the horrifying corruption and dishonesty at all levels of the US government and the "intelligentsia," notably the press. It makes one physically ill to contemplate it.

I'm not talking about Barr. I think he's an honest man--think.

But the contempt for truth! The appalling lack of curiosity about the most blatantly mendacious things! The meretriciousness! The outrageous ignoring of the obvious! The defence of the indefensible!

All these contrasted with the images of the raising of the US flag on Mt. Suribachi! The battle of Guadalcanal! The American boys (most of them less than 21 years old!) walking directly into machine gun fire on the beaches of Normandy! The American graves in Europe!

The contrast--the sheer evil of it all--make the honest man and woman physical ill.

The biggest problem the President faced for choosing and confirming Cabinet and Agency positions was the following:
1) President Trump had a very short list of people he could pick from that he knew personally to staff those positions since he was a Washington outsider.
2)Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan and several other Senate and Congressional leaders presented a list of “acceptable” people the Republicans could stand behind (some what) when the media and Democratic outrage and opposition occurred.
3) The people who the President was forced to select believe that they answer to the Republican establishment donors rather than the President and saw their job as slow rolling the President's agenda until the return of “responsible government”.
4) The plan from the people the President was forced to choose from was to sit on the hands while the President endured multiple attacks from the Democrats and the media leaving him to twist in the wind and when pressed give lip service to the President while once again leaving him to fight on his own.
5) Once the President is eliminated the Republican establishment can go back to business as usual on trade,immigration,and working with the Democrats off load health care costs from corporations to the Federal Government and as a bonus pick up those new Trump voters telling them what they want to hear but delivering nothing for them.
The Republicans never wanted President Trump they wanted either Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio as the “Gentleman loser” to Hillary in 2016 and were planning to work with the Democrats to get things done for the donors all the while telling their voters “ Well with the Democrats holding the White House there is only so much we can do. If you want to change things in Washington you need to send us money and vote for us in November even though many of us vote 80% of the time with the Democrats.” The Republicans have been playing this shell game with us rubes ever since President Reagan left office.

Don’t get caught up in the spin. Firstly, Barr did not dispute the president, he doesn’t have that option with an ongoing investigation. He used the tern “to date.” A week before Custer got it he hadn’t seen any indians...to date. And CNN left that very important two words out of their determination. But of course, if you tell part of the situation, and do it intentionally and purposely to create a fales impression, that’s called lying. And CNN is not above doing that daily.
