Utah Senator Mike Lee succeeded in passing legislation in the Senate that would eliminate per-country-caps on recipients of H-1B visas on Wednesday, a policy change that would effectively monopolize the visa system for nationals of large countries such as India.
The Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act has been called the greatest corporate welfare program for Big Tech in recent memory. Lee has persistently sought to pass the corporate giveaway, with previous attempts to eliminate per-country-caps being blocked by Democrat Dick Durbin and Republican Rick Scott. Neither Senator objected to the unanimous passage of the modified S386 legislation on Wednesday afternoon.
Big Tech monopolies such as Apple, Google and Microsoft have fervently lobbied in favor of eliminating per-country caps, seeking to replace their American workforces with de facto indentured workers who accept lower wages and worse working conditions. The pervasive use of the H-1B visa in the American technology industry has displaced countless American workers from their careers.
Lee’s giveaway doesn’t specifically raise annual H-1B visa rates, although an increase in numbers of visa workers would be a likely consequence of its enactment. It’s expected that the program will be dominated by Indian nationals in the event that Lee’s HR1044/S386 is signed into law, providing massive corporations with a considerable labor pool willing to work for less in return for an American visa.
The legislation was most recently updated with a provision blocking Chinese nationals from using the H-1B program. This provision appears to have been instrumental in securing its passage through the Senate.
U.S. Tech Workers @USTechWorkers Breaking: Sen. Mike...
The Big Tech giveaway will now proceed to President Donald Trump’s desk, having previously passed in the House of Representatives. It will fall upon President Trump to veto the visa worker corporate welfare in the interests of American tech workers.
And who all supported this treason? And will Trump please veto it?!
Unanimous, so Lyn’ Ted and all the rest of these so-called Republicans voted for this treason?! Shame on them all.
TREASON. I will never give another dollar to any politician.
This calls for martial law as much as all the voter fraud does.
of all times to do this. I lately feel like a fool for ignoring my libertarian friends who have long contended that we have been played by a cabal of actors pretending that we have a two party system,.
Yes, I recall in the summer and fall reading that members of congress were scheming to sneak this through. Now they have, unanimously no less. Outrageous treason.
There are so many so arrogant shopping at The Home Depot in Tampa, Florida. IT and medical no doubt but clueless about hammers and nails. And want everything for fifty cents. It’s unbelievable. Feels like Mumbai. What a sense of entitlement. Why are we doing this to ourselves?
There is a lot of uniparty in the swamp and it usually revolves around $$$$$$ just like Mike Lee.
However, there is a growing divide between real issues that do not involve pork, Wall Street, K Street, or the Chamber of Commerce.
It’s a mixed bag. Mike Lee has been chomping at the bit to do this for years and here we are.... the ink is not even on the election and they are making their move.
On the bright side, at least Rubio is going to wreck his ship (again) on amnesty. Nikki Haley should be doing cartwheels of joy.
Mike Lee must think President Trump is irrelevant now. What a jerk. I used to think he was a good guy too.
It started with Clinton in the 90s. I know because I was working in Silicon Valley selling benefits to employers there. The employers wanted the Indians and the Chinese because they could pay them less and Clinton helped them with the H1B visas.
I can also trace this back to why silicon valley is so un-American. Those people aren’t Americans.
This is what treason looks like.
Communist China purchasing U.S. farmland, U.S. agriculture flyover country next. Bought and paid for by Congress.
I can’t believe Rubio thinks his middle path is going to win him the nomination come 2024. Such an articulate candidate and yet such a bleating malleable politico. Does he have some bargain we dont know about or is he simply tone deaf?
It actually started with Bush I.
Clinton, Bush II and Ovomit just accelerated the process of destroying the American white-collar middle class.
...And their positions tend to always add up to a reductio ad absurdum. Mill never war-gamed the “harm” principle to its logical end if you ask me. Hence why I can never fully commit to libertarianism. But they seem to be right about the uniparty problem. I figure a true constitutional party might need to be formed now that Republicans seem happy to the go the way of the Whigs.
