Devastating news: Walter Williams died last night (or early this morning).

A nice guy but too free trade globalist for my taste.
That is indeed devastatingly bad news. Very few great economists left...
The brilliance of this man will be sorely missed. His understanding of economics and the practical application of economic theory translated to human behavior is one of those rare gifts that so very few possess.
We sorely need people who can both educate and entertain simultaneously. That combination of abilities serves to deeply embed knowledge into the minds of others.
Walter Williams excelled in this regard and he will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace.
This is a huge loss. Prayers for comfort and peace for his family.
One of the smartest men I ever read. R.I.P. sir, you will be sore missed.
He was one of the few who could be called an icon.
Prayers up for his family. R.I.P.
What’s with all you people saying nice things about Walter Williams? Have you all forgotten that we’re ALL just a bunch of racists in here??
Oh wait... We like black people who support freedom and economic liberty. I forgot. My bad.
RIP Mr. Williams.
You brought a perspective that was fresh and very much appreciated. You challenged the status quo and encourage us to THINK for ourselves. You planted the seeds of liberty in many new minds. THANK YOU!
“ Sorry to hear this. RIP”

I haven’t as yet seen this reported on any news outlet. Are we sure this is accurate?
A very unfortunate loss. He was a lion and one of our finest intellects combined with common sense. A great American.
So far the year 2020 has sucked big time.
RIP Mr. Williams. Thanks for the uncommon sense.

No No No.....I don’t want to hear that. And Herman Cain died just 5 months ago... Boy - if the grim reaper is making the rounds in this country, wish he’d make more stops in Congress...I believe Walter Williams’ wife died a few years ago. Always loved hearing him and enjoyed his sense of humor filling in for Rush. I’ll have to make a point to listen to him today but the Atlanta station has a woman with such a horrible voice doing the news, I can only stand about 10 minutes of his show.
Does NOT turn up in a search!!!!

Huh?
Globalist in the political sense no, but all economists are free trade advocates. That includes international trade. But he was never an open borders type globalist.
Trust me, I won't tell. Every time I listen to Candace, I start contemplating self-identifying as black!
OH, NO!!😥 RIP Professor Williams.
I’m so sad! Walter E Williams was the commencement speaker at my son’s graduation from Grove City College in 2012 and I got to meet him!
I see we have at least a couple of threads on his passing. So I’ll just repeat what I wrote on another thread:
He was one of my favorite columnists. He was 100% right in emphasizing (actually demonstrating and proving) that minimum-wage laws reduce the employment of minimum wage workers, particularly teenagers and especially black teenagers.
Historically, the minimum wage law got its start as a way to prevent southern black highway construction crews from underbidding northern white unionized crews. The minimum wage is just another anti-black law that Democrats passed.
The minimum wage law remains popular because of its name. It sounds like it raises wages, when in fact it merely outlaws jobs. It’s a little like outlawing Fs, Ds and Cs in school so as to raise GPAs.
Walter Williams offered both common and uncommon sense on a variety of topics.

Is she the gal running for the House from MD who did a tour of Baltimore? Great gal... Did she win her seat? I can check. OH! NO! She lost to the BLACK RACIST - Mfume!! Drat and darn, darn, darn!
The right to vote should be taken away from some people! They are just not able to tell a “good” one from a “bad” one and Mfume is a bad one!
Candace Owens is fabulous also.. What a team they would make.
