Whaddyaknow — Enemy of the People CNN Finally Admits China Lied About Bat Flu. Late Again For the Party!

Happy March 276th, 2020, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. None of this is real.

Remember way back around March 90th or so when we were all so optimistic that we thought the end of the year and the change of the calendar might bring some respite?

As we move inexorably toward what will probably be a nightmarish sequel year rather than a relief, things just seem to get weirder and weirder.

There is, however, one thing that we can rely on to remain the same: CNN is the Enemy of the People and everyone who works for them is more than likely doing something unspeakable to a helpless marmoset as you read this.

Throughout the pre-election phase of the Chinese Bat Flu plague, CNN’s function was to lie as much as possible about the pandemic and keep the panic porn spreading much faster than the virus itself. The goal was to scare people into voting for Joe Biden, a candidate even Joe Biden didn’t like.

Now that they feel that their strategy worked, the network thought it would dip its toes into the truth-telling pool on Monday. Remember, CNN has been journalism-averse for a great many years, so any attempts at being real reporters are now super awkward and clumsy.

The fun began when CNN proclaimed that it had an “exclusive” about China and the plague:

To say that CNN is a little late to the party on this one would be doing things with the word “understatement” that are probably illegal in thirty countries.

I know this year seems like it’s been a decade long, but I can still remember way back to last summer, when the bulk of CNN’s “reporting” involved chiding President Trump for repeatedly making the point that the coronavirus not only came from China, but that China was not at all forthcoming regarding the particulars of it. It was “racist” to be honest about what was going on.

That CNN’s on-air personalities were able to “report” this news with straight faces shows how far gone the American political MSM is. The execs probably thought that going through this dog-and-pony show would give them a little you-know-what covering for the egregiously biased advocacy they have been engaged in. As is so often noted these days, they don’t seem to know that everyone has internet now.

So were the ChiComs and CNN about a year late with airing this data?

Heck, Even in its latest release you can see where CNN is hedging, reporting on the details while still trying to frame things. Note the attempt to downplay anything approaching a call that there was intentional lying conducted by the Chinese leaders.

In their segment they said:

“The Chinese government has steadfastly rejected accusations made by the United States and other Western governments that it deliberately concealed information relating to the virus, maintaining that it has been upfront since the beginning of the outbreak. However, though the documents provide no evidence of a deliberate attempt to obfuscate findings, they do reveal numerous inconsistencies in what authorities believed to be happening and what was revealed to the public.”

Even later the news outlets were obtuse in their coverage. They failed to show much in the way of curiosity towards the origins of the outbreak. By summer China was being hailed for its mastery in how it handled the outbreak, with few reports criticizing the extreme human rights-violating measures that were employed. News reports critical of the practice of sealing off the city of Wuhan and welding doors shut to contain the sick in their homes were more novel than the virus itself. Further, as they praised what is now seen as a propaganda campaign, the news networks used this false narrative to compare it to President Trump’s announced failed response.

Yet to those paying attention there was ample reason to be suspicious of China’s actions. As the country was imposing strict protocols inside the Hubei province on its citizens they maintained a status quo appearance globally, issuing no warnings and still allowing travel from the area, which allowed the spread to become worldwide.

Beyond the stalled announcement to world leaders of the problem there were reports on how doctors reporting on the virus in the early days and issuing warnings were silenced, or turned up missing. As news of the outbreak within China began to grow the Chi-Com government clamped down fiercely on social media, hoping to squelch the spread of information. All of this pointed to a country more concerned with its image than it was with containment.

While credit needs to be given for CNN actually filing this report it does not at all exonerate them for the year spent spinning this story in another direction. Their surprise today is a direct result of their tendency to simply repeat the official word out of China, with little in the way of introspection seen towards the accuracy of the official state reports.
