Americans should assume they are infected with the coronavirus — and get tested — if they traveled and attended large gatherings for Thanksgiving, Dr. Deborah Birx warned over the weekend. In a Sunday interview with CBS anchor Margaret Brennan on “Face the Nation,” the White House coronavirus task force coordinator urged anyone who gathered for the holiday to get tested within the next few days.

I’m not listening to her. She sounds very much like the teacher in the Charlie Brown shows. “Wah wah wah, wah wah wah, wah wah wah!”
This is dangerous technically as well as politically. Generalized testing for a disease is NEVER a good idea. The reason is that testing is never 100% accurate. The goal of testing is that it be likely that someone who tests positive actually has the disease. With generalized testing this no longer is the case.
Consider some numbers. Suppose a test is 95% accurate in terms of positive results. Therefore 5% of positive results will be false positives. Further let’s assume a 2% infection rate. Thus in a population of 320 million people, 6.4 million have the disease.
Now, we test all of the population. Assuming no false negatives (unrealistic but simplifying), we get 6.4 million true positives and 15.68 million false positives. This means that out of 22.08 million positive tests, only 6.4 million of them, or about 29%, actually are infected.
A positive test in that scenario only means that you have a 29% probability of actually having the disease. Admittedly, I made up the numbers to prove a point, but I don’t think they’re far off. In reality, no public health official prior to COVID ever suggested testing everyone for precisely this reason. Birx certainly would be well aware of this phenomenon. One can only conclude that her goal is to increase the number of positive test results in order to maintain panic and fear among the people.
Would not surprise me in the least.
If you take advice from doctors who finished at the bottom of their medical school classes and then joined the US government to avoid being sued for malpractice, you might be an idiot!
Why don’t we just assume Fauci and Birx died of Covid-19?
“Oh, yes sir!”
Barbara Ferrer here in Los Angeles gets paid over $500,000 a year and is a spokesman for mayor Garcetti.
Both “Dr” Birx and “Dr” Barbara Ferrer are not medical doctors.
Barbara Ferrer has a Ph.D. in social welfare and a master’s in public health.... !!

They made up new rules again that stores can only have 35% occupancy
Other places 20%. Meanwhile hollywood is exempt.....
But we did know what we were dealing with. It was a corona virus. A new version but a well known family of viruses.
#22 Look at the positive, at least you were not called a “nazi” : )

Nothing good is coming from it.

1. I did travel for Thanksgiving, using an airline, from a major airport with a stop and change of planes in another major airport. That was two weeks ago. The 1st flight had some empty seats and the second one was packed like a sardine can.
2. I have been out and about, including dining out, shopping, a live entertainment venue, church and site seeing.
3. For Thanksgiving we had a large family gathering with many family members and friends from all around the southern California region.
4. Next week I will take the airline flights again to go back home.
5. Neither I nor ANYONE I have spent time with has the virus.
Birx is an idiot.
Worse. I was called a libertarian.
That is not to bad.

Someone I know, just recently, was exposed so went to CVS to get tested. It was a requirement for what he does. Test came back positive but when he actually looked at the paperwork he was given it said the result had a 50/50 chance of being correct. So he paid $150 and went to a different place. Almost immediate results that he was negative. So if most of the testing has a 50% chance of being correct that means up to 50% of the positive tests is BS. Maybe that is where they’re getting their asymptomatic results. So just maybe the number of positive tests can be cut in almost half?
