For the last 2-3 weeks, I have gotten majorly hooked on Steve Bannon's War Room: Pandemic live broadcast (& if I have to miss it, I catch up on the podcast). Love him or hate him, Steve is a sharp cookie. I found out recently that he went to my dad's alma mater & grew up in the same state, either in or near my home town. It's a tenuous "connection", but I do feel a bit of one, knowing his old stomping grounds are familiar to me.

Anyway, he's down for the fight regarding the stolen election and has really interesting people on (a good source of what is going on from the actual people involved) and one of them was Sean Parnell. During the interview, Steve mentioned Sean's book "Outlaw Platoon" & praised it highly. Yesterday, I was ordering books for Christmas presents (the Rush Revere series of history books for some young relatives who are being home schooled) & took a look at the reviews for Sean's book. The reviews were overwhelmingly "rave". I found a used book in good condition & ordered it. I can't wait to read it & will pass it on to family members if it's as good as it's purported to be. A suggestion: it might make a great read during the holidays/winter when staying inside is the better 'weather option'.

Outlaw Platoon: Heroes, Renegades, Infidels, and the Brotherhood of War in Afghanistan by Sean Parnell

Description (from Amazon):

A riveting story of American fighting men, Outlaw Platoon is Lieutenant Sean Parnell's stunning personal account of the legendary U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division's heroic stand in the mountains of Afghanistan. Acclaimed for its vivid, poignant, and honest recreation of sixteen brutal months of nearly continuous battle in the deadly Hindu Kush, Outlaw Platoon is a Band of Brothers or We Were Soldiers Once and Young for the early 21st century--an action-packed, highly emotional true story of enormous sacrifice and bravery.

A magnificent account of heroes, renegades, infidels, and brothers, it stands with Sebastian Junger's War as one of the most important books to yet emerge from the heat, smoke, and fire of America's War in Afghanistan.

Price is reasonable. Kindle version is $6.99 (what I usually get), but sometimes you just want an actual book in your hands. A new paperback copy is $14.99. I paid almost $7 less than the paperback by buying a used book (even with shipping added).

Brilliant observations as usual! My big downfall I don't read enough books.

IMHO, Rush's legacy will include, and big time, his series of CHildrens books, they are as good as it gets.
