Remarkable detail of the plot to kill an Iranian nuclear scientist emerged on Saturday, a day after the assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh reverberated around the world.
Sixty two people were involved in the scheme, according to Mohamad Ahwaze, an Iranian journalist who exposed the extent of the COVID-19 pandemic in his country.
Ahwaze said he had obtained leaked Iranian information.

If the person that you're killing is important enough, you drag him out of his armored cocoon and make sure.
Remember, nukes can kill hundreds of thousands: one messy killing to stop that outcome fills my heart with gladness.
Sixty two operatives is not a hit it is an insurgency. Iran has a rebellion on its hand!
62 people is a couple of full strength platoons. Some serious logistics involved in something like that.

The car wasn’t armoured.
The windows were easy enough to shoot through.
Also in some photos you can see two ‘exit wounds’: these are from shots fired from inside the car (or through an open door) that then exited through the car’s body.
I still love trumps way though “smoking shoes”
Yes, quite impressive. Sounds like somebody was quite serious about this project.
My personal policy many years ago, was to take my target down, then put three more into him to make sure he stayed down.
Killing always requires redundancy.
Thanks for posting this. Based on his battle damage assessment (and he is an expert), he makes a strong argument that the scientist wasn’t killed but defected.
It would be normal for the Iranian regime to lie about this. And just as likely for the DailyMail to get the story completely wrong.
I would have to re-listen, but IIRC Wictor also says that the Saudi’s played a big part in the mission.
If so: DJT has really changed the Middle East.
So it was an assisted defection? Could be.
Gabriel Alon...(again)
I think Thomas Wictor is right that this was a defection and not an assassination.
Mossad/the Saudis certainly followed your excellent policy with respect to the driver.
First: three beautifully spaced shots from the front, and then whoever approached the car from the passenger side put another round through the driver (this round formed the exit hole near the trim on the driver side of the car).
The same shooter (or his team) dispatched the guard in rear of the driver (second exit wound near the rear of the driver’s side of the car).
If there was a guard in the front passenger seat then that same shooter (or his team) left that guard’s brains on the dashboard.
It seems to be as Wictor says: there was a LOT of commotion to the front and left, and then the real killers came in from the right of the convoy.
There aren’t a whole lot of countries in the world that can pull off something like this but Israel is one of them. It’ll never be proven but I’d put money down that it was them.
Death to the great satan iran!!
Death to the pigs and dogs in iran!!
(Should have rubblized the dump in January 1980)
Killing him is more complicated than abducting him and smuggling him out of the country?
Makes sure and sends a message.
One thing puzzles me.
The autoloc doors would have to have been opened from the driver’s seat. How did the suprise attackers get the front-passenger door open?
If they had just shot out the windows I would have expected more exit wounds in the bodywork.
Did they use something like a centre-punch to break the windows, then shoot the guards in the car and *then* shimmy through the window to engage the autoloc?
Netanyahu views himself as the secular leader and protector of the Jewish people. His life has been dictated by the Holocaust. When a state leads its people into frenzied chants of Death to Israel and its foreign policy implements actual harm to Israel and its people, Netanyahu takes the threat very seriously. He especially notes with alarm the talent and activity of individuals who would equip that state with the nuclear weapons that could anhiliate Israel and its people. Its not suprising that this talented, purposeful Iranian was assassinated.
