maybe it is just an accent that to someone from another region might seem different
True...I thought he might have been picking up on the deliberate pauses in speech...as far as I know, there might be characteristic patterns that someone with experience would pick up right away to indicate someone has had a battle with a speech impediment and undergone therapy.
I am probably overthinking that..:)
