•Ivermectin is effective for COVID-19. 100% of studies report positive effects. The probability that an ineffective treatment generated results as positive as the 19 studies to date is estimated to be 1 in 524 thousand (p = 0.0000019).
•Early treatment is most successful, with an estimated reduction of 91% in the effect measured using a random effects meta-analysis, RR 0.09 [0.02-0.40].
•100% of the 8 Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) report positive effects, with an estimated reduction of 72% in the effect measured using a random effects meta-analysis, RR 0.28 [0.13-0.59].

Who is @CovidAnalysis? We are PhD researchers, scientists, people who hope to make a contribution, even if it is only very minor. You can find our research in journals like Science and Nature. For examples of why we can't be more specific search for "raoult death threats" or "simone gold fired". We have little interest in adding to our publication lists, being in the news, or being on TV (we have done all of these things before but feel there are more important things in life now).
The politicization of this disease is unprecedented in scale and extent. Convince me otherwise.
I am not an epidemiologist, a doctor, or anything medical. But I understand numbers well enough. Based on the numbers in the Ivermectin studies, it seems to me that properly used it could knock this pandemic down such that Rt, the transmissibility coefficient, would be well under 1.0, and the disease would die out. This using a very cheap, readily available therapeutic, not requiring mass scale vaccinations.
BTW for those who don't know, Ivermectin is the active ingredient in HeartGard heartworm preventative, which you may give to your dog. It's also used on all sorts of livestock, as well as for humans, mostly for parasites. But it appears it also has significant antiviral effect.
This is a cheap drug no one is making big money on.
We have tons of this, in our barn, thankfully!
I bought a 6-pack of the apple flavored a few days ago. Haven’t opened them yet, but they’re on the shelf.
You have horses, I presume?
Another very safe medicine that costs next to nothing. It’s given out like candy in 3rd World countries.
Yes....and cattle, dogs, etc. :-)
What is the dosage for people?
Depends on weight.
There is a formula that’s been posted, here.
Also, a dosage posted by a Doc. I’ll try to find it, again.
Pinging folks from some previous Ivermectin threads et al.
12 mg a day for five days if positive for Covid or symptoms
Prophylaxis 12 mg once a week for 8 weeks
It is a good drug. Not perfect. But I have used it in even late state disease and have seen it turn around people ok they precipice. Hypothetically speaking.
Thank you!!
I was looking for the dosage that you’d posted, a week, or so ago.
Dr. Marik’s Covid protocol at EVMS:
From that:
• Ivermectin for pre- and postexposure prophylaxis (see ClinTrials.gov NCT04422561 &
NCT04425850). 200ug/kg immediately then repeat in 72 hours.
• Ivermectin for prophylaxis in high risk individuals. 150-200ug/kg (or 12 mg) ivermectin
weekly.
I won’t argue with those numbers, LOL. And thanks for the ping!
Is this something that would have to be prescribed by a doctor?
Ivermectin does not directly destroy the COVID-19 Wuhan virus. Only in conjunction with ionic zinc circulating in the blood stream does it have a therapeutic effect. Ivermectin is an ionophore that opens up the COVID-19 virus particle so it may absorb the zinc ion, and thus become unable to reproduce.
The progression of the Wuhan virus is thus brought to a screeching halt, and the effects of the infection are then subject to the body’s own existing coping mechanisms to restore health.
Technically, yes.
Practically, it is readily available for livestock use. I would not recommend using the livestock products. I might have bought some for my medicine shelf . . .
Would the livestock version be a much higher dose? Concentrations different than prescribed?
My SIL is picking some up from the feed store today. Available without a prescription for horses.
It’s easy enough to do the math. The horse paste tubes come out to about 1/10 of a tube.
