Yup.
Edward Snowden has political views that overlap mine, but are far from matching. He is a hero though.
Both are libertarian. I am conservative. But I strongly support the honest, pragmatic populism of President Trump.
His Deep State enemies would mess their pants big time over that.
Assange yes, Snowden no.Why? Snowden, at great personal risk, took on the Deep State to reveal widespread, systematic violation of our Constitutional rights. Violations which many of us were ridiculed and shouted down by many of our fellow travelers on the Right for years for claiming were taking place. We were called paranoid, leftists, cranks, traitors, you name it... And we were right. Snowden proved that the NSA (at the very least) was, and is, systematically listening to and reading everything we say and do digitally in private, in the name of "security".
It will never cease to amaze me how so many conservatives will scream for armed rebellion when they even think their First and Second Amendment rights are being threatened, and yet a Republican government can systematically destroy their Fourth Amendment rights (whether through the "War on Drugs" or the "War on Terror"), and not only will they tolerate it, they'll cheer it on, somehow equating the destruction of their right to be secure in their papers, property, and person with "freedom".
Whatever you want to say about the DOJ declined to prosecute 8-10 years prior to being indicted.
She was the only Democrat I was worried about.
As a further follow up, I would also argue that Snowden is of much greater moral character than Assange. Assange may have acted in the name of freedom from time to time, but the man is a miscreant at the very least. Snowden was rather a hothead in his youth (as most of us were) but as he has matured I believe he has demonstrated a consistency in his values worth respecting, and that those values are generally noble, even if I do not always align with them. Assange strikes me as much more of an opportunist who happened to do some good along the way.
I am ok with it as long as there is also an immunity deal so we get a ton of DECLAS in the table. How about info on Seth Rich?
Which is why I was recommending coalescing where we agree but not violating our core principles.
Good idea, since if Trump loses, these dudes would be back in business processing whistleblower information obtained from the then corrupt administration!! We need these ppl burrowed deeply into the deep state!
Yes, to both. And many more. He should go on a pardoning spree.
I do not care for Tulsi, but my understanding is that she’s not too well liked by her own party. When the dem’s hate one of their own, it’s a sign that there is some good in them.
This good occasionally comes out of Tulsi, which is her pardons recommendation. I agree, Snowden did America a huge favor by outing illegal activities. And I see little harm in what Assange did.
Tulsi is a lefty, but if she had gotten the nomination the country could have hung on for a few more years, as opposed to the plunge it will take if Biden can snake his way into office. I also believe she would have gotten honest votes and attracted more than 20 people to a rally.
Snowden = YES, but I’m not sure why it’s so imperative for the US to pardon Assange.
She’s mostly conservative, except for abortion. She is also a VERY strong supporter/backer of military and veterans.
(That’s why they (DemonCraps) hate her here.)
*** Snowden = YES, but I’m not sure why it’s so imperative for the US to pardon Assange. ***
All the trouble/lies the deep state has thrown at Assange, or pressured other countries to pursue are manufactured, and have been debunked. Wikileaks has a 100% accuracy record in it’s leaks.
For revealing the Truth, a journalist is facing about 200 years in Colorado’s ADX Supermax in Florence. He has been deprived of his human rights, denied medical care, and tortured.
Currently, in Belmarsh, the British prison for violent terrorists, awaiting the outcome of his US requested extradition hearing, all Covid cases are being housed in the wing where Julian is held. He has a medical history of chronic lung problems.
When Hillary Clinton asked in all seriousness, “Can’t we just drone him?” that should tell you, he should be freed.
For your interest.
I'd say commutation for Ross, not a pardon.
