Disney is expanding the scope of its layoffs to around 32,000 workers as the coronavirus pandemic continues to pummel the theme park industry.
In an SEC filing published Wednesday, the company revealed that thousands of employees will have their jobs terminated in the first half of fiscal 2021. The majority of these layoffs will be from its parks, experiences and products division and include the 28,000 workers that the company previously announced in September.
Prolonged closures at Disney’s California-based theme parks and limited attendance at its open parks has forced the company to slim down its workforce. In addition, as of Oct. 3, around 37,000 employees who were not expected to be laid off were placed on furlough.

I am shocked. Don't rich corporations have an obligation to pay their workers, no matter what? With free medical and paid family leave for sick cats?

I feel bad for the people that work there that have no part in the upper company goings ons. That being said, Disney is an evil company that has turned their back on their creator.
Walt is turning over in the freezer right now.

Our experience at Disney in 2018 made me swear off ever attending the park again. It was so miserable, the crowds were wall to wall, everything required a reservation and you were limited to 3 a day.
It was just an awful experience when you break it down to $60 per ride per person per day.
It was the absolute worst vacation I ever took children or not.

. . . that being said, Disney is an evil company that has turned their back on their creator. My thoughts exactly. Disney has been nothing more than a "perversion pusher."

Disney decided to sell their soul to the totalitarians. How is that working out for them?
Coming next, “sure Disney, we shall give you a government loan, for say, a 51% stake in the business.”

Disney has done a 108 degree turn away from great customer service to cast members who are hired to be prison guard types who rudely insist that people follow the rules.
They have a new CEO and it’s obvious. Attention to detail and customer service has gone out the window. It’s amazing how quickly they have ruined a once great company.

It isn’t Caronavirus that has ruined them. They have committed suicide by ditching their old ways of great customer service and attention to detail. The only detail that they focus on today is making their guests as miserable as possible while spending a fortune for that misery. No thank you.

My Wife got a lot of real Dirty Looks a few years back at the Michael Jackson Exhibit at Disneyland when she blurted out pretty loudly:

It is interesting to note, that with all the different “flus” that have ravaged the country since the 70’s, that an entertainment giant have no contingency plans for “the next one”.

Yep. We relished going to the Disney parks. You could indeed escape. One time we went and the Bobby Jones Gospel Choir was performing at the ampitheater at DisneyLand.
But I won’t go back with a mask, or social distancing.
