So much mis-information out there right now. I suspect the spike in cases is due to expanded testing and the spike in deaths is because it's flu season. Haven't seen any data on flu deaths.

Possibilities: # positve tests, # people with positive tests, # of people exhibiting symptoms, # people with severe symptoms, # people under doctor's care, etc. etc. By sliding the definition one way or the other, one could easily manipulate the number
I have seen the flu data. From ~week 15 it essentially disappeared. The case data “spike” is because of a rush to test with a bogus test that the federal money runs out on at the end of December. After that it will cost you $115.Kind of hard to pay for that when you are unemployed with no health insurance.
