State election board declines to rule on measure dealing with residency concerns.
Georgia election officials are extending the use of secure ballot drop boxes for use in the state’s twin Senate runoff elections on Jan. 5, where the Republican majority in the Senate is at stake.
The five-member Georgia State Election Board, chaired by Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, voted on Monday to extend the use of the 24/7 monitored drop boxes for use through the runoffs. Use of the boxes was originally set to expire in late December.
The move comes amid a surge in absentee ballot requests in the runoff elections. Officials said that as of Monday morning 762,000 requests for absentee ballots had been submitted.
A second rule adopted allows counties to continue to begin processing absentee ballots two weeks before Election Day – but now also mandates them to start processing them no later than a week and one day ahead of the election. But as per Georgia law, none of the ballots would be tabulated and counted until the polls close on Jan. 5.
The board didn’t discuss or rule on a measure dealing with residency concerns. The secretary of state's office opted instead to send an official election bulletin to counties regarding residency information.
The deadline to register to vote for the runoff elections is Dec. 7 – and early in-person voting in the twin contests begins on Dec. 14.
Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa on Monday becomes the latest high profile Republican to travel to Georgia to campaign with Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, the Republican incumbents in the runoff elections.

Wow. The fix is in. I'm sick to my stomach.
Why not just call for Loefeller and Perdue to concede now?
Your GOP at work, begging to be kicked in the nether regions and enjoying it.
Americans need to be like the Dutch, who would get rid of bad politicians by eating them.

The election officials didn’t learn anything from PA? They can’t just make up new laws and circumvent the Legislature. (But I guess they are.)
Someone explain how an election board is able to change election law in GA without any involvement of the state legislature.
“The election officials didn’t learn anything from PA? They can’t just make up new laws and circumvent the Legislature.”
I think Georgia law is silent on the use of drop boxes for absentee ballots. I believe it is a rule or regulation of the state election board.
Build a fence around Georgia and call it an insane asylum run by its inmates.
All GEORGIA Republicans should apply for Absentee Ballots, submit them, AND vote in person on election day.
Fraud??? Of course not! The election system in Georgia is so good they will sort it out later.
If accused of voting twice just say you wanted to make sure your vote was counted and you trusted the system to weed out the extra vote.

SMH
Since ballots are NOT verified and they just mix them all together, what is the harm in requesting one if I live in NJ?
How are the Dems doing this? They were publicly saying they were getting out of state people to vote in this election?
We need to learn their tricks
Why should we care, given their lack of support for the President? Georgia Republicans reap what they sew. He gives and they take.
we will lose BOTH races, can’t compete with this massive fraud.
So, election officials are not modifying existing law, merely creating new law out of whole cloth.
LOL- and here i was foolishly believing there was hope the Georgia GOP would see what a disaster mail in ballots were in the November election and put a stop to them during the run-off...stupid me...
When both GOP senators lose, America is done.
Democrats are red-hot in enthusiasm to win those two runoffs; meanwhile Lin Wood urges GOPers not to vote. Great.
This has the full support of Kemp and Perdue and Loeffler - they must all be hoping for Biden Ambassadorships.
I looked at it from the perspective of number of voting days.
