The images of politicians like Nancy Pelosi, Lori Lightfoot, J.B. Pritzker, and Gavin Newsom, to name a few, living large while the hoi polloi cower under house arrest should be more than enough motivation to impose strict term limits throughout government.
And traditional term limits aren't enough. I think there needs to be lifetime, cumulative term limits: no more than x number of years total in any public office, or perhaps government service of any kind. No more career politicians or career bureaucrats. Public service must be a temporary burden taken on by productive citizens, not a habitat for professional parasites.
FWIW Denny’s is open Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. At least according to the sign on the door at one south of Houston.
But my story is about one night around midnight I was driving alone on the highway in a really bad rainstorm. I hit a cinder block in the middle of the road dead-on with my front tire while traveling 60 mph. (Rain was so heavy I couldn't see it.) It bent my rim. I kept rolling off the nearest exit ramp and there was a Waffle House at the bottom of the ramp. This was pre-cell phone era, so I went inside and they sent one of the dishwashers to help change my tire for me. When the spare was on, it turned out to be almost flat. (Argh!) The guy followed me in his car to the station down the street and pumped the tire up for me so I could get home.
Will never forget that.

These shutdowns really impact women across the boards from owners to workers. Liberal sexism at its worse.
If Y’All were closer We would make Reservations but 2700 miles and almost 40 hours is a long drive for Dinner.

I’ll give it a shot. There was one next the place I ate at while on the road for work last week. Did not try. How are their burgers?
